Anytime the weather is cold, say below 35 degrees F, the car will not crank. Finally after numerous attempts, the car will then start. Have absolutely no problems when the weather is warm. This is a 98 Ford Contour. Have replaced the starter! Help, am out $500 dollars.....
Welcome to CEG ! If the engine will not turn over I would check the battery connections are clean and tight and also see if the alternator produces 13.8 volts or more across the battery when the car is running. If that voltage is OK, you may need a new battery.

How old is your battery? Most older batteries have a problem holding a charge with lower temps. I had this problem until i switched to an OPTIMA

Battery is not that old. It was checked and panned out good! Do you know anything about the "relay?"
