I can't go into the details of what happened tonight, but because of my stupid driving, cheap tires and brakes that aren't perfect,,, I had a little incident on the highway tonight. After spinning around multiple times and going into the grass median (still spinning) the contour is still going strong. I know many cars would have atleast some trouble from this and of course a truck would have flipped. My only problem is my amp is somehow shooting sparks. My contour has put up with a lot of punishment and is a great car. I really need to treat it better and be more careful and maybe get those brakes fixed. I think the contour is a great car for a teenager as it can handle stupid driving very well and is pretty forgiving.

At least ur fine.
Im a teen, I need a car....anyone?

Damn kremi, gotta be more careful dude.

At least you're well enought to type, which is good man.

The tour gonna be a total possibly?

Pay attention eh.

Yeah the car is fine, just amp came un-grounded and left much of my crappy korean tires on the highway. I think I'm gonna be much much much more careful from now on. I could have easily died tonight if I had collided with another vehicle. At the speed I was going I don't think living through a wreck would have been a possibility. Anyways everything is fine. Thank God.
Posted By: amarv12_dup1 Re: A contour experience - 06/05/04 05:13 AM
I saw that eh.

Its a 96 gl, gotta figure if you ding a few panels up and do some suspension damage...it wouldn't take too much to have an insurance company call it a total; our cars don't hold value too well eh.

edit: glad to hear.
Posted By: Stryker Re: A contour experience - 06/05/04 05:14 AM
glad to hear it. no damage to the car is just a bonus...sorry about your amp...
Posted By: Kremithefrog Re: A contour experience - 06/05/04 05:15 AM
I did no body damage,, if I had hit anything it would have been bad, real bad. And suspension is fine (other than the things I already am about to replace). I only have liability so it doesn't really matter what an insurance company says.

i know the liability only feeling, if you [censored] it up its on you...and nothing but your wallet is gonna take the hit. i cant afford full coverage, 2 tickets in three years (both were post 100 MPH, no lectures please) will do that to ya.

Nothing like a little traffic incident to get the blood flowing huh?

Glad to hear your alright, and the car made it ok.
Posted By: Renee_dup1 Re: A contour experience - 06/05/04 12:47 PM
Kremit, don't make me drive down there and beat you like a red-headed step child, then take your car.

Drive more carefully from now on.

Stop trying to beat my top speed Kremit.....it isn't going to happen.

Seriously, glad to hear you alright after that ordeal.....gotta be more careful.

I've had a grass median experience too. In my 87 Escort . I dozed off 30 seconds from the off-ramp at 60mph. Luckily it's a "4x4" and the altho I dropped about 20 feet down, it went back up about 5 onto a parallel road with nothing more than grass in my bumper.
Posted By: ktung Re: A contour experience - 06/06/04 01:57 AM
i had a recent incident with a truck. I avoided the truck and spun into a grassy ditch, right after smacking the rear passenger door into a mile marker. Good thing, I don't have to look at it everyday, but it makes me sad when i see it. What can i say, I'm from NYC.

so what happened dude, what where you doing/ u can pm me if you dont want to post it.
Posted By: Kremithefrog Re: A contour experience - 06/06/04 05:03 AM
The story is just about my stupidity and trying to have what would seem like fun. It will not happen again. But I am glad to still be here and I think there must be a reason that I am still here.

This brings me to my next point, don't smoke crack.

J/P Ross, glad you're all right. I've had my share of dumb mistakes, too. For a while, my insurance was ~$8k/year.

Kermit, I don't want sound like an old fart but what the h@ll were you thinking. it's not just that you could have been hurt or worse, it could have been someone else (sorry that was my dad side comming out) remember if you have a need for speed there are places that you can go, try the local race track you might find that for not much money you can take a racing class, I have done three different ones now with the most expensive one being $300 for two hours running a nice sportsman class stock car on a 3/8 mile oval. now I think you have been lectured enough, and this won't happen again ( it's a dad thing) glad your ok

Wow, I'm glad to see you spent your time and money on race classes instead of learning how to read somebody's entire thread which CLEARLY shows it was a stupid mistake and won't happen again. Ooo but those race classes are more important than knowing how to read.

Kremit, I understand your point, because your original post did include a statement of contrition ("stupid driving, cheap tires and brakes that aren't perfect . . ."). You acknowledged the driving error, so you felt that should be the end of the subject.

But you have to cut some slack for ebean, because he is so totally right on this. You didn't really say in your post that you understood how much risk you took, how you jeopardized others, or that you should only drive fast on a track. Ebean was just telling you those things, and he did so with considerable restraint. You can't post about a serious driving stunt like yours without getting a little well-deserved flack from your friends here.
Posted By: Kremithefrog Re: A contour experience - 06/07/04 03:58 AM
Well I think I and EVERYONE on here should already understand that it was a risk to me and other drivers and that it was stupid. But if you feel, ebean, or anyone feels the need to express these things in type in this thread... Fine go ahead, the rest of us already know it.
Posted By: LilTour Re: A contour experience - 06/07/04 04:34 AM
hmm.. thats odd.. how do you reach the pedals??
I thought Ms. Piggy always drove..

Im playin... anyways.. It happens to the best of us, and we live we learn, glad to see you and your car are still alive and kicking.

You have a bad attitude.

Besides, I thought you had good tires?

Yeah I do have a bad attitude, I take that as a compliment. And I have my 14"s on right now with cheap korean tires. I do have good tires, though they're just not on the car right now.
Posted By: PlatoSVT Re: A contour experience - 06/07/04 06:05 AM
Don't take that "compliment" to heart too much there. Won't get you very far in life, BELEEVE DAT! Just be glad that you've learned from it and do take one of those driver's courses, they are so much fun! And you'll learn a TON about everyday driving, as well as track racing.

Can I have some money?
Posted By: IonNinja Re: A contour experience - 06/07/04 06:43 AM
Kinda makes you think twice about topping out on the freeway doesn't it...

its fun at the time but bad things can happen!
Posted By: Kremithefrog Re: A contour experience - 06/07/04 07:04 AM
I wasn't topped out.

Try earning it. You'll appreciate it more. And you sure seem to be really broke with all those mods on your car. Wish I had earned money like that when I was 17. What job do you do to earn that money?
Posted By: ibub_dup1 Re: A contour experience - 06/07/04 05:09 PM
I wasn't going to post because kremit already knows what I think about him, but given his last few comments, my opinion is even lower, not that he cares.

Well seeing as I haven't done any new substantial mod in a long time (the hood was paid for over a year ago and struts were bought with this year's tax money). I only make $6 an hour I just work a whole lot and for the past two years or so have put almost all of it into my car, which wasn't that smart of a thing to do.

And you are right ibub I don't care. The only reason you ever started not liking me was because I post a lot. I find that very amusing and it just shows what kinda person you are. But that's cool. And if people never got angry or had an attitude, this world would be very very dull.

The feeling is mutual.
Posted By: LilTour Re: A contour experience - 06/08/04 08:25 PM
Everytime I break 100 on the highway my car feels like its floating..

and it makes a errr, errr, errr noise.. while it bobs up and down like cadallac suspension..

It might be that im making elongated turns doing 105 + , or the fact that the roads suck..

but if I was making a right turn, id start int he right lane, and end up in the left.. kinda freaky..

Ohh.. wait.. this never happend.. cant talk about it..

And my point was that I had already addressed your point, thus you being the wanker (in this thread anyways). Though I wasn't even really racing so don't be so quick to make assumptions.

Liltour,, your car shouldn't feel that way, my car didn't feel that way stock and definitely doesn't feel that way now.
