Right now I can possibly buy a 2000 Ford Contour with 54k miles on it. It doesnt have leather or a spoiler. But I seemn one on ebay for 30 dollars [Stock Spoiler for Mystique or Contour]. It does have the 24 Valve Engine though. Would u recommend buying a Contour?

I would suggest running a car fax on it first.
Also, where are you? There might be someone on here from your area willing to check out the Contour for you to make sure the car is worth buying.

If all goes well, and it's worth it, yeah buy it. Contours handle great, they are fun to drive, reliable if you take care of it right. I have a 98 Contour SE 4 cylinder, and I love it. My hub has a 94 Explorer V6 and he has more fun driving my car.

They are good cars, just have more problems that other manufactures do from the from the same year.

Thats what i'm talking about. I'm leaving a neon behind. My neon had better performance than most Neons. And that 24 valve engine seems interesting. It's gonna be 6995.00 . I'm getting it from a dealer with warranty and what not. It just has the horrible hub caps that I want to replace with maybe some 16s.

One other thing you might want to replace is the transmission... I can't understand how people want to drive automatic trannies. Also, for 7 G's I wouldn't buy it, even though it's a Contour.

Way too much money imo.

My current mystique was bought about 1 year ago.

Had 44k miles, Midnight blue leather, pwr windows/locks, premium sound, 15" wheels, pwr antenna, fogs, CD, pwr seat, moonroof, 2.5L V-6, auto......all that for about $6,000 out the door including TTL. Dealer wanted 6500 before taxes and stuff, we talked him down.

So basically, the cars are good, there's just better deals out there.

Are you asking me if i'm on crack?

I think my car was a pretty good deal, body and interior was/is perfect, $6k is pretty acceptable.

Thats not a deal... $300 for a non-smoker ford Contour GL perfect interior, minor scratches on body, with a extra powerful Zetec Engine... Ahh i love the bad sender gauges on the Zetecs

Posted By: y2kContour Re: should i buy a Contour? - 06/05/04 04:12 PM
I apperciate the help. I do want a Contour the only problem is I can't find one with leather, sunroof/moonroof and a spoiler. I was trying to to finance thats why i was going to go through a dealer. But I just landed a better summer job so hopefully I can save and buy a good contour off of ebay.
Posted By: igorek84_dup1 Re: should i buy a Contour? - 06/05/04 10:44 PM
If you're going to buy a Contour off of ebay and willing to spend 7,000 bucks, then go for SVT. It has all the options that you listed, plus 7 G's is about what decent SVTs are going away for on Ebay.
Posted By: TaurusKev Re: should i buy a Contour? - 06/06/04 04:11 AM
But SVT's require the Premium gas... I want an SVT... but id rarily drive it, stupid expensive gas...

Ive cut back on driving my GL too!

I rely on friends now... get rides from them... even tho my contour is way better

Nah, theres Power Windows, Map lights, or the manual crank windows,

They had red interiors for 1995.

You should be able ot get a 2000 Zetec Tour for about $4500-6000, with about 40-60K miles. Any more and it's too high. A V6 one is only $500 more.

Only pay $7000+ if it is an SVT or a loaded Mystique LS.

I used to drive a 92 Plymouth Sundance with a red interior, plus the exterior was also red. I kinda liked it. Plus I never spent as much money on that car that I have since I bought this one.
