$96 speeding ticket for going 36 in a 25 DOWN A FRIGGIN' HILL! Military posts......BAH!
Posted By: Kokopellian Re: Most trouble you've been in - 08/19/03 04:07 AM
I was doing 158mph in a 55 zone. After I was pulled over I stepped out of the car as was cited for indecent exposure (I'm a nudist). The officer told me to get back into the car, but that was before he discovered the dead body in the trunk. However, it was thrown out of court on a technicality.

75 mph in a residential area with a loaded gun in the car (in california mucho illegal) $450 fine and my gun was confiscated indefinitely. And before someone starts no I am no e thug, internet tough guy, gang banger or any other sort of crap like that.

65 in 45. 180 bux worth of ticket + 2 points

One speeding ticket, doing about 80 in 65 zone, and can't find my proof of insurance in the car.

Then the cop/court managed to lose my ticket for 4 months so I can't even get it corrected by taking a class. Five months later, I suddenly got a mail that they're going to suspend my license because I didn't "respond" to the summons.

Ended up spending a WHOLE DAY in court, making appointments and such, just so I can take a class to get rid of that ticket from the record. THEN spent a whole day to take that darn class.

well I was going 90+ in a 55 (I-10 here in AZ)...100+ about 30 seconds before that...

but he got me down for 80+ and an unsafe lane change...

good rule of thumb...when a cop is going 75 down the onramp don't blow passed him. I knew I saw a white car that looked suspicious...

didn't have the proper proof of insurance either...

got the insurance thing cleared up (I do have insurance), went to traffic school for the speeding (thank god for text messaging), and paid $110 for the unsafe lane change (which I really don't remember as I had my blinker on but I guess cutting across all 4 lanes is bad)...

eh well, I'm a paranoid bastard now, what can i say...

in my 83 elky:
$300 ticket
$100 for Excessive smoke
$100 for excessive noise
$100 for speeding
i left a gas station with the tires blazin, 150' worth of rubber and a cloud of smoke so big i couldnt even see the blue lights on the cruiser sitting behind me.
got it reduced to $70..hey, what can i say, bad valve seals and a loose belt. the magestrate was feeling generous.

In the SVT:
$265
85MPH in a 65MPH zone
Failure to stay within marked lanes
unsafe lane change
and i thikn i pissed him off when i passed his field sobriety test with flying colors (i was sober)
i just forgot to use my directional.
it was 1:30AM and i was only about 1/8th of a mile from my exit and my house is less than 1/2 a mile off the exit.

noting so far, ive been lucky, too lucky :
I dont know if it was the most trouble but the strangest look I ever got from a cop was when he pulled me over at 3am coming home from a midnight showing of the rocky horror picture show dressed like this.

It got even worse when I had to get out of the car to get my wallet out of the trunk and I had some guys passing by in a car slow down and whistle at me They must have been drunk because I know I dont look that much like a girl.
AH MY EYES! LOL! MOX you are nuts!

-Andy
i've never even been pulled over .

85 in a 55 - ended up just getting a small fine since the judge respected that I was in the USMC

Pulled over many times and let go after the cops see I served.
I've so far been let off with warnings on three separate occations from Tennessee Highway Patrol (and they're supposed to be the hardasses)

85 in a 70 @ 10:30pm on Pellissippi Pkwy

Indicated 90 in a 70 (he said 86, my tires throw off the speedo i guess)... I was coming out of Memphis headed home. This guy got me out of the car to ask me some questions and look through the car; he said Memphis is a popular place to pick up 'stuff'. He war real nice, and I was REAL cooperative and respectful, and he let me off of what would have been a $150 fine (with the warning that right up the road was some construction, and if I were to be pulled over going that fast in the construction zone, the fine would have doubled! Yikes

The funniest story is getting pulled over by the same cop in the same speed trap twice (fine was the same even though i was going faster the second time). He didn't recognize me the second time because it was about a year later and I was in a different vehicle, but the questions he asked the second time were like
"You know why I pulled you over?"
"yes sir"
"you know what the speed limit is back there?"
"yes sir"

So the moral of that story is: Never speed through that 1/2 mile streach of road ever again. I continue to speed everywhere else though.
I've been pulled over 8 times in 3 years:

  • 87 in 55-kinda running with someone, got off with a warning cause the cop wasn't sure he clocked me or the other car
  • 55 in 35- 2am, right down the street from my house, just a warning to go home safe and sleep
  • 74 in 55- got a ticket, went to court on Sept. 11, 2001; paid the fine $135
  • 91 in 70- "I'm late for class!" "Ok, just slow it down." Muwhahahaha! No ticket
  • 82 in 70- cop was sitting just over a hill with the radar gun pointed straight back, paid the ticket outside of court $100.25
  • 44 in 25- speed limit just went from 40 to 25, cop was right after the sign. I went to court and got driving school and didn't learn sh!t.
  • 52 in 35- paid the ticket outside of court $100.25
  • 50 in 35- haven't paid it yet, just got it a couple weeks ago. These last two were on the same friggin road. I now go a different way to work everyday.

  • Eric! What's up man? I've not been online all summer, I've missed all you guys.

Anyway, what's with the 100 bucks and a quarter? Chattanooga just like to be wierd or something?

-Got it signed off by a mechanic
Pulled over for a seatbelt fine (just pulled out of a gas station
Got pulled over with some friends for donuts in a parking lot full of snow (about 3 inches deep)
    -Got off with a lecture
    -Paid a 25 dollar fine
Pulled over on 118/Germantown Road for 78 in a 50
-Cop didnt show at court and I got off
    Pulled over on 27 for 81 in a 45
-Cop didnt show at court and I got off
Pulled over on 29 in VA going 82 in a 55
Given a Reckless driving ticket due to speed, speeding ticket, and tint ticket, along with a car search that found nothing
-Cop did show up and reckless ticket was dropped and all 5 points off speeding was dropped and I only had to pay 45 dollars, and the tint ticket was another 50 dollars.
Pulled over in Florida for going 55 in a 35 (He guestimated my speed)
-87 dollar ticket I just paid
Most recently: I work at a federal facility and the speed limit is 35. Well sometimes we have county police watch perimeter of our facilities. I took a 90 degree turn at 35 and he had a fit and sent a federal cop (who was my friend) after me to bring me back.

    I recieived 5 tickets
Driving my car in excessive speed
Driving my car in a manner to create excessive noise
    Tint Ticket
    No Front License Plate
    Exhaust

Federal officer got me off the 3 inspection violations but i got the first 2.

    After all this:

142mph on the Trans-Canada highway in 1980 when I was young & foolish on my way to visit an old GF. I was driving a 1973 Mazda RX-3 with no seatbelts . Fast old car, but it took about a mile to slow that thing down!!! Friggin' brakes wouldn't slow the car at that speed. I WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!!

The RCMPs set up a roadblock east of Montreal & I got tossed in the can until they figured out that they couldn't conficate my State of Maine DL. I was fined $250 CN, but I never paid it. A few years later I found out that the whole thing was dropped anyway, so no harm done.

Since then I have been an angel

t-shirt and jeans in the middle of december with my head on the hood of my car for 20 minutes, jusat to have the cop come back and say he made a mistake.
and give me a written warning for my exhaust.

I have a decent story, I wasn't quite in trouble but defintly scary!

On the way back to home me and my 2 friends... I was not driving by the way...
Anyways one of my friends had to go to work and was very late, so he was speeding doing about 150 KM/h, I was sittin in the back (91 Golf) and worst thing happen's. we pass a cop! I Instantly shout out cop and he is already tryin to make a U-turn.. but theres to much traffic.. so we fly around the first upcoming intersection at about 60... THIS IS IN THE SNOW... and then we swing to the right into someones driveway, well the car over steered and went straight into a sign... yet my friend is still freaking... starts the car and hides behind a huge barn for about five minuits... then we leave, the cop wasn't around, but after we been driving for about 10 minuits I look behind and what do you know!! its the cop, so he pulls us over.. and asked us where we were heading and sayed he saw us fly by him clocked at 146 in an 80 zone.. but then he tells us since he lost visual for more then 5 minuits he can't charge my buddy!!! and he sayed he KNEW it was us tough. so we got off with warning

Very scary and stupid indeed, good memory tough.. everytime i see the golf with the huge DENT in the door I laugh!

86 in 55 $300 fine and I got my license suspended for 60 days
$75 for restricted lisence $25 to get my licence back after suspension
a week after the following 6 month probation period 68 in 30
27 hours of community service- no fine

when I renewed my insurance after both events.... my insurance went down. since I first started driving my insurance has dropped a total of $500. F'd up right? I'm just lucky. Be safe. "It's the law"
Posted By: stickyjazz Re: Most trouble you've been in - 08/23/03 02:28 AM
    Young and foolish
    speeding + point & fine
    Speeding + points & fine
    no pay fine = suspended
driving under suspended = points BIG fine (dumb dumb dumb)
drove home after being caught for above
license review (nice song and dance = reinstated)
    years later bit older
    red light points + fine
    speeding points + fine
more years later older and wiser
    speeding just a fine

Of course these are only the tings I was caught doing.
this was also before insurance companies started bleeding us dry

Southern Alberta, hadn't seen another car for a solid 15 minutes, so I figure, hey, open road, let's giver. Had her maxed at the governed 186km/h, when over the hill comes a cop. I slam on the brakes and immediately pull over.

He approaches the car and says, "Do you know how fast you were going?"

    I say, "140?"

    He says, "149."

Gives me my $200+ ticket(don't recall exact amount) and I can't stop thanking him.

See if you're 50km/h or more over the limit, then you have an automatic court date. Lucky me!

Posted By: SlowNfurious Re: Most trouble you've been in - 08/23/03 02:45 PM
17 at the time for both of my tickets

    1st ticket - reckless driving = $150
2nd ticket - speeding, crossing over double yellow, not using turn signal, not using headlights. long story short i was sorta racing then took off down a street and turned off my lights. 2 cop cars pull with lights flashing put the spot light on the car tell me & my friends to get out they then try to say we were drinking and smoking weed and searched the car they found nothing. after about like 30 mins of waiting he hands me a $300 + ticket.

because i got those 2 tickets within 6 months of having my license it was supposed to be suspended for 6 months i got it reduced so that i had to goto a class and i could get my license back.

that was 3 years ago, havent had a ticket since.

Ok this is one of my least proud moments, but i was young and VERY stupid:

So me and a couple of buds are hangin out at my friends house and get totally trashed off some goooooood Puerto Rican Rum . But for some reason we find it cool to take my friends aunts car out at 4am and we were so piss drunk it wans't funny . I wasn't driving and the driver did seem to be a little less intoxicated than the rest. But we end up goin around town and on our way home, the driver decides to test the limits of this Grand AM. Well we must be doin 110 when i yell at him to slow down and he lets off the gas. But he decides to go again and floors it at a coasting 110mph . Well as soon as he hits the peddle i hear somthing "detach" itself from the bottom of the car . And then the car looses all power and we coast for a good ways untill comming to a stop on the side of the road. Well we get out to check everything, and I smell oil every where in our path. The car won't move and eventually the cops show up wondering why everything is like it is and makes my friend call his aunt and tell her we have her car. Cops drive us to the house, car is towed, and the cops never write down a SINGLE name because one of their wifes was friends with my friend's aunt. Well the next day we jack up the car to find the oil pan with a BIG hole in it and inside the pan we found variouse pieces of Grand Am block . But even after all that hell, i never got in trouble. hmmmmmmmm lucky i guess.

Well it was the night before i was supposed to leave for the airforce and me and a friend decided we "had to" go out drinking. Well after drinking all day and part of the night I am driving my friends mustang down lakeshore drive and i take a left going too fast lost control and hit a speed limit sign. Well we get out to survey the damage and the car is messed up but drivable so after my friend throws a few punches we get back in the car and as we pull off a cop pulls up behind us. Well being that we were as smart as we were, we ran and got away or at least we thought we had until on the way to my house we get pulled over. Well I got a failure to maintain control ticket, fleeing the scene of an accident, wreckless operation, and an open container ticket. Well those tickets could have kept me out of the airforce so i called in a couple of favors and voila no more tickets.

Friend called me a pu$$y for doing speed limit on a street in Chicago. So I floored it and as soon as I hit 80mph (in a 30mph zone) I saw a cop pass by on the other side. THANK GOD Chicago cops are dumbasses. **knock on wood**

btw for the chicago guys, this was on irving park in between narragansett and oak park, by the cemetary (on the cemetary side). Nice straightaway.

thats not a cemetary. its a location for the people that suffer from mental retardation so they can learn to opperate in the world on their own. the cemetary is between cumberland and harlem. in the 2nd half. anyway my friend got 5 tickets. unsafe lane changing, speeding 93 in a 55, loud muffler, no seat belt. and illegal lane usage.

he changed 5 lanes on the highway to get on his off ramp because pricks wouldnt let him in. it was a unmarked camero that caught him. the cop almost hit the median when he tried to switch 5 lanes on the high way, the cop was lucky my friend let him in or the cop would have wrecked his car.

2 counts of wreckless driving (misdemeanor in circuit court which i guess is different from traffic since these tickets will never go away), illegal use of a radar detector, liscense suspended for 90 days and 9 days in jail not counting the night i spent during the whole ordeal, and 2500 dollor fine, and had to hire a bad ass lawyer. total court fees and attorney fee was over 6 grand. this happend one year ago. havent had a ticket or been pulled over since. hard lesson learned is i will never run from the police again. that was almost 400 bux right there.

I raced my tour against my friends 2004 Cavalier LS on I43 northbound from Port Washington at 110mph! That was the sh!t. Glad I didn't get busted, that woulda been the end of me...cause I've got two 4 pointers already ...I also don't do that stuff anymore cause I'd rather do it at the strip... Yeah it was fun, but it was stupid too

1983 - 15 years old on a YZ 125. driving with a buddie on a public dirt road between 2 sandpits. A cop saw us and we took off. The cop radio'd in a Supercop (what we called Police officers that drove Dual purpose dirtbikes) He was chasing us for 10 minutes through in a sand pit till he called in another supercop, so we took off into the woods and lost em. We then did the single track for about an hour more and went home. There was a corner store close to where we lived and we went there for some junk food and soda and as we were chewing the fat in the front of the store, the cop pulls up and we had an "oh sh!t" look drawn across our faces. I've never seen a bigger smile on an officer's face. He was cool about it though and he gave us a tongue lashing about all the laws we broke. Turns out when he saw us driving on the public road, he just wanted to tell us just drive on the trail that was beside the road.

i had been modifying my gsxr-750 for a month or two, and hadn't ridden since i started working on it. i got it buttoned up at around midnight or so one night, and had to ride it... you know how that goes! so i threw on my leathers and took it out. i stayed pretty slow through the neighborhood, only doing 35 in a 25. i rolled through a stop sign, continued on, turned onto the main road and took it up to about 90 or so (in a 45) before i saw the lights behind me. my registration had expired in the time i was working on it, and i didn't have proof of insurance, or my drivers license for that matter. so the tally went like this:

    expired plates
    no registration
    no insurance
    no drivers license
    35 in a 25
    two rolled stop signs
    and 90 in a 45.

apparently he was behind me for quite some time.. lmao!

thankfully, he was a friend of a friend of mine on the force. i dropped my friends name like a hot potato while i was sitting in the back of the squad car. the officer just gave me a look, and told me that when people drop names, he usually gives them the full penalty that he can. but... he was a good friend of my friends, and my friend had actually talked to him about some of our streetracing days of yore (we both had pretty nice mustangs).

18 years old, 89 honda accord- 75 in a 35 past an off duty cop, locked the brakes around a corner and then got knicked by an on duty cop for doing 55 in a 35 in very thick fog...shi*ty part was i got the ticket and a lashing from both cops right in front of my recruiters window needless to say i joined the navy shortly after.

21 years old, CSVT- get knicked for reckless driving, erradic(sp?) lane change, speeding, exhibition of speed, no seatbelt and no recon permit and he was about to let me go with just the recon and got a call from the station that i had a warrant for my arrest from a seatbelt ticket 2 years prior i saw jailbars for about an hour before my boy bailed me out

ive been pulled over at least 40-50 times (no exageration) and have gotten about 6 tickets since i got my license...but its all gone on this next insurance cycle

55 in a 35. i was really going 75 though, so i was just thankful i didnt get radar'ed at that speed.

    i need a radar detector.

that was my only ticket, dont plan on getting another one.
i got a verbal warning the other day because apparently in minnesota they don't allow license plate covers, that and i was going a little fast though. "im sorry officer (shows ohio license) i just moved here and i dont know what the speed limit is!" worked great

I didn't want to wait for the red light when I was crossing the main highway, so I ran the yellow misjudging the bumps in the road. Bottomed out and then the front tires became airborne. I locked them up after crashing down the front end, didn't sound pretty at all. College campus police was across the street at McDonald's and saw the whole thing.

Warning though, along with a "You almost caused one helluva wreck back there."

    Um, nothing?

One can conclude this in one of two ways:
    1) I lead a boring life
    2) I have a lot of sheer dumb luck

OK, last summer my friend Tim and I went up to this guy's apartment in Springfield (about an hour away) to chill. We drank some "herbal" tea that the guy made. He said it would relax us, but didn't mention what it was. I asked him if it was legal, and he said yes. Then we got bored after about an hour or two and set out for home.

We got pulled over about halfway home because an ambulance had been following us for awhile and radioed ahead. Apparently we both began wildly hallucinating about 20 minutes after we left, and I kept trying to drive "in the fast lane", but we weren't on the interstate; we were on a regular highway. So I was just driving in the wrong lane, and every time a car would come at us I would snap out of it and get back into the right lane. They said I wasn't swerving, just driving in the wrong lane.

So they pulled us over and took me to jail after searching my car (and finding nothing), and sent Tim on his way on foot with both his cell phone and my cell phone, but two dead batteries. So he had to walk twelve miles back to Monett at two in the morning, hallucinating his ass off, LOL. He talked to a lot of his friends by the side of the road, but every time he'd glance away and look back they would vanish. :O

They took me and drew blood to send away for analysis, and held me in jail for like four hours. Wrote me a ticket for a DUI and improper lane change.

The bloodwork got lost in the mail, so my lawyer got it dropped no problem.

And that "herbal" tea turned out to be ground-up Jimsonweed (datura) seeds. It's a quasi-toxic hallucinogen that apparently grows in the ditches around here.

That was a crazy night. I talked to a lotta dead people in the jail cell. It was kinda freaky, since I didn't know what the hell was going on.

    undeserved:

i was pulled over at 4am for doing 85 in a 65 on the 55 north at 17th street. i lie and tell the cops that i have no idea how fast i was going. they assume that i am drunk and give me every field sobriety test in the book including saying the alphabet backwards twice which i pass easily(thank you private school) and blowing a 0.0 twice. the white cop wants to haul me in for dui anyway. the latino cop convinces him not to because i am clearly not intoxicated and that will be false arrest. and the clincher is that i did not drink then nor do i drink now.

    deserved:

i was late for school and i would be dropped if i didn't show up in the next 5 minutes. one week before finals. the officer had me at 88 in a 40. i was the only one on the road at the time so i was not endangering anyone. he becomes quite angry when i say i am late for class when asked what i thought i was doing at which point he detains me for 30 minutes, curses me severely, and nearly huals me in. he tells me that i am receiving leniancy(sp?) because i was polite and treated him with respect. i get to class where i am told that i have been dropped. there goes my A. so i show them the ticket and tell the t.a.'s my story and they let me back in out of pity for the fine i will pay. 1 count of exceeding the max posted speed limit and 1 count of exceeding the max allowed speed limit. traffic school for only one count (pre traffic school 2). $480ish.

    lucky bastard:

i was caught doing 50 in a 25 in newport beach hours after completing traffic school. 4 buddies and i crammed in my supercab ford ranger. i tell the cop that i am color blind (true) which caused me not to be able to see the four speed limit signs i had passed in the prior mile (not true). he lets me go with a written warning.

this was when i was young and stupid. i have since become a responsible adult. most of the other stories are not repeatable here.

Just over a week ago my brother and I were racing down the 57/55 fwy going over 130MPH for a full 15 mins! Both of us have CSVT. Going so fast it felt like the car was going to spin out of control. Very scary, indeed. Acrdklr was heading home the same direction (only slower) we were going and metioned to me days later that a highway patrol was zooming by him that very same night heading to pull us over I think but I guess never reached us when we exited the freeway minutes later. WHEW! that wouldve been a BIG ticket. Lucky us I guess.

glad this is limited to "While driving."

100 in a 70. In England (on the A12 near Colchester for you MEGer's). I was in a Diamond White (N reg) Mondeo Ghia X with a full RS kit . Ole Bill stepped out from a bush and zapped me handheld style. I thought for sure I was cooked; but nothing. No chase down. About two weeks later the letter came. I had an appointment with the local Magistrate. So much drama, the prosecuter made me out to be Englands worst criminal since Jack the Ripper. 6 points and 250.00 quid fine.........

    I miss that car!!!!!!!!!!!

This thread is about how much trouble you've been in, not what you've avoided. I'm sure we all have stories of not getting caught, etc.

40 in a 35, was coming around the corner and cop was on the median waiting for me.

Oh comeon, only 8 times? I was pulled over 12 times and 3 written warnings before I got my first ticket. Yep, lucky number 13. Wouldn't you know it, the first ticket I got was actually BS. I went to court (first time), and was not well prepared, and lost.

My car, 81 Chevy Malibu (3.8L 229 V6 - Smallest of 4 Engine options) was phyiscally incapable of reaching the estimated speed at the point I was tagged. I loved working on that car, so much room.

Since then I've only received 2 tickets but have been pulled over 20 times (not all for speeding). With a 10% Ticket/Pullover ratio, I've since decided to invest in a Passport 8500. However alot can be said for putting an officer at ease, and being polite during a traffic stop.

My favorite one involved a State Trooper who had me dead to rights! 85 in a 55. I was on my way to the Red Sox game, peaked a hill on Rte 2, and there he was. However, I had a good feeling I'd get out of this one. It was my birthday. He asked me to see if any of my friends would get me a $300+ Birthday Gift, and let me go.
