I think either
A. they won't accept it as a trade
B. they will see it and give a real low price
C. They won't catch it

My first guess would be C. Just don't mention it, and pretend like you have no idea. When they give u a real quote, and say its because of that. Be like oh nevermind then. Then go from there. Odds are, they won't notice.
They won't find out right away, and after all the paper work is signed they can't do a thing about it. Like charging you for the new cats or deduct it from your trade in value, they can't do that. All my trade-ins they never inspected the under carriage of the car, they do that later on before they put the car up for sale or auction it off.
Just trade it in and don't say anything about it not having cats, you will be just fine.
By the way, what new car are you getting?

they won't catch it............and they won't give you jack squat, trust me I just traded one in
They may or may not catch it, but if it's ILLEGAL to sell a car without cat in your state, then you're in trouble nonetheless, even AFTER the paperwork's signed, since you've technically commited a crime.

A regular cat is only like that? $150 or $200? I'd say put it back in.

Actually I dont think it een matter what state you are in because IIRC there is a D.O.T. regulation that states altering or removing emissions equipment is illegal and that's a federal reg not state. I seriously doubt the stealership would catch it until later and I doubt even more they would make a big issue of it...they'll just slap a cat on it and resell it most likely.
