Would the funds accidentally get misused or is that a CEG funds-only account?
Good idea Frenchy. I'd like to send my Best Buy rebates & such that I generate during the year to fund this worthy site. I know the information available here has saved me at least $600 in repair/diagnostic expenses, so I feel obligated to kick a percentage your way (unfortunately, it has also gotten me bitten by the mod & racing bugs).
In the meantime, I'll send in some cabbage on August 1st.
Ahhh, yes, I remember donating last year. I forget exactly how much I gave, but I know that I've gotten way more out of CEG. I can't begin to imagine where I'd be without the help and knowledge of this place.
I will be making my donation tonight or tomorrow as soon as I update my checking software at home and figure out how poor I really am. Where's that damn financial aid check, anyway?

I've had the $1600 sitting in my personal paypal account for the past year or so. Haven't used the account for anything personal because I didn't want to put the CEG funds at risk for any reason.
Lance mentioned setting up a "CEG only" account to me, but I'm not sure if this is the account or not.

Read the first message. Just send lance a PM and he will let you know where to send the money to. He does not want to have his address posted in some place that anybody can get it.

In your announcement post I note that you dread asking for funds. This site is a fabulous service to those of us who own Contiques, Mondeos, Cougars. There is a wealth of info available here that allows all of us to really enjoy our rides.
In short, you are providing a valuable service. Based on the responses now, & last year from what I hear, people are eager to do their part to share this resource.
I thank you & offer up my humble sacrifice to insure good fortune for yet another year.
Which reminds me, entertainment value too.
I'm fuggin broke...got school tuition coming up in the fall, car insurance, etc...but I'm still gonna throw in my $10...you guys have earned it and much more!

Well, we are almost there. The current running total is $698.63. Several people have asked to mail them as well. Keep it up guys! The more we can raise now, the less we have to come up with next August. Last year we raised $1600 more than we needed, which is what made the need this year so much less. I will also be keeping the paypal links open all year for those who have asked to make small donations year round.
We do occasionally need money for other things, as well. For instance our yearly support for UBB.Threads is about to expire and that will cost $99 to get more member area access. This lets us get new versions of the forum software as it is released.
Thanks for all your donations! The response, again, has been impressive. Especially given the current economic conditions.

Just did my part to help out. This is an invaluable website that has saved me lots of money and headaches.
I sent in a check a while ago... and I know I've done it at least one other time in past years. I imagine my days here are numbered as the Mystique is not long for my garage, but dittos on all the sentiments here - this is an incredibly helpful and fun site; certainly a camraderie that is not usually found on car-based forums. I've been hanging out on mazda6club.com lately and it's nowhere near as active - hoping that will change with time.
Thanks to contour.org, glad I've been able to offer a couple helpful nuggets of my own over the years.

Nope, this thread is a year old. We're always accepting donations so that we don't have to make a huge, fast rush each year to raise funds for the coming year.
We're exploring cheaper options for hosting the site, so we may not need as much as we did the past two years...
