Contour Enthusiasts Group Archives

Well boys and girls, the time has come. I am starting to notice a large amount of Contour/Mystique parts going obsolete from Ford. This inlcludes almost all interior trim and even thing like the SVT radiator. I just picked up the last 3 from another dealer, I now only have (1) left.

So if you have little items that you want replaced, now is the time do it.

I will post a link to the list of part going this month, if you need help with a part #, let me know.

I thought I read somewhere that Federal law requires automakers supply parts for any given model for around 25 years. Am I off base on this?

From what I know, they only have to make parts for as long as a car would be covered under warranty. Ford is 7 years or 100,000 mile, or whatever comes first. Now on a Focus, it may be 10 years or 100,000 on powertrain parts.

BTW anyone know the part number for the pull door handle on the passenger side?

Thus begins the slow death of the Contique. Gonna go out with a squeak, I guess. A mere footnote in Ford's domestic automotive history.

sucks about the interior parts...mechanical and such i'm sure you could get aftermarket if needed, though i don't know about svt specific parts.

'99, greystone. I'm not sure what the exact name of the part is.

Most of the mechanical stuff you can get through other manufacturers.
