Uh well after about 181,000km or so I stopped reporting my information (aka paying cash for ALL repairs and maintenence), what do I do if I want to sell the car later on?
What are you talking about? You're crazy
Seriously, though... I don't think awesome maintainance records are going to up the value of a 98 Mystique.
I didn't know Carfax reported maintenance.
Anyway, keeping your maintenance records might help you get a buyer more quickly than the competition, but it has nearly no bearing on the value of a 98 Mystique unfortunately.
Do you pay "cash" for your plate renewal and emissions tests too? Otherwise Carfax will still have access to your mileage updates.
I mean when I got the carfax from you guys (thanks again) it only details the mileage until...I renew my sticker and it looks at the mileage. But maintenence records don't help with sale? I mean don't they usually show the potential buyer they're not buying a lemon ?
Maintenance entries don't always make it to the Carfax report. And the Canadian Carfax reports are especially sparse. We just bought a van that's 10 years old, has a 1" thick history of dealership maintenance and repair records and it only has 10 entries, nearly all registration related.
True, carfax maintenance entries are self administered. Anyone can enter information about the car's history on the reports.
