23-26 city 32-34 highway
Posted By: m4gician Re: Your Current Gas Mileage - 08/20/06 03:35 PM
I'm currently getting around 23 to 29 mpg . I drive city/hwy but I commute from the sub urbs to the city a lot and commute to work. But the roads here have higher speed limits like 70 or 80km an hour so that practically consitutes highway driving. Plus I do most of my driving out of the trafic jams though I want to shoot myself within them. Usually within one tank of gas I get around 550 to 575 km. I have a high mileage engine too 250,000km without doing any rebuiilding on the UIM/LIM, just regular maintence.

Btw Goonz, nice post to reach 9700 posts :P

Approx 400km (250miles) to the tank of pure city driving stop and go traffic and random close commutes and flooring it waaaaaaaay too offfteeeeeeen.

Dunno. Not worried about it. I just fill when I need to.
Posted By: SVTC1136 Re: Your Current Gas Mileage - 08/20/06 04:33 PM
I'm getting 21-23 for city and highway. Doesn't seem to change much if I drive smooth or give er heaps either.
Posted By: CRZYDRVR_dup1 Re: Your Current Gas Mileage - 08/20/06 04:41 PM
~34 MPG
Posted By: The Digital Slacker Re: Your Current Gas Mileage - 08/20/06 04:43 PM
around 20 when i drive like a dumbass, upwards of 30-31 on the highway with cruise control.
Posted By: rouar Re: Your Current Gas Mileage - 08/20/06 05:14 PM
I've been recording my gas receipts since December.

Stats for the past month on my Maxima:

Lots of driving due to a nightmarish commute (nearly 2 hours each way) since late June. I moved this week so I won't be driving as much.

The car's been pretty nice to me considering its size and weight.

24 city 30 highway since I installed the MIL eliminators (That damn 420 code was chewing up gas like you WOULDN'T believe! )

So you are saying the MIL eliminators helped your gas mileage? Wife's car has been running with the code for awhile and been getting 23 mpg.

I've heard....It veries from car to car.

Posted By: Tony2005 Re: Your Current Gas Mileage - 08/21/06 02:02 PM
There was a discussion on this earlier on. It depends on what is the cause of the P0420/P0430. I think sometimes, the codes will cause the PCM to go into the limp mode (more gas is used) and sometimes no. In any case, any CEL codes should always be taken care of ASAP.

My present mileage 18 City, 24 Highway (65 to 75 MPH), and recently 26 Highway (55 to 60 MPH, did it just to test).

Edit. Here is the thread with a discussion on it.

26 city/29 highway (try to maintain 65mph) @75k miles
In city I never go over 2k rpm.

You guys get descent mileage. I used to get 28 to 30+ on the highway in my V-6 Contour, but the V-6 Mystique is getting about 22mph no matter where/how I drive. Same computer code, new Autolite plugs/wires just like the Contour, UIM/LIM has been B-12'd a couple of times, good maintenance on everything else.

I've got mystery mod, no CELs, & SVT exhaust. I've tried stock air filter setup with various filter brands, and am now running open element for the last 8 months or so. No difference.

I'm gonna try swapping out the fuel pressure regulator for a fresh one & performing a full UIM/LIM rebuild. Soon as I get time...

You should try changing gears, I'm sure you'll do better than "22 mph"

My gas mileage has begun it's descent as well. I used to get decent figures, but a clogged O2 sensor has reduced it severely. I used to get 29 on the highway. I think it's dropped to about 24-25. I've only been able to break the 30 mpg barrier once or twice. Very frustrating! But then again, I'd MUCH rather sacrifice 1-2 mpg for ice cold A/C!! (I'm a sissy that way! 75° hits, and the A/C goes full blast!)
Posted By: todras_dup1 Re: Your Current Gas Mileage - 08/21/06 05:09 PM
I average about 23 mpg and about 280 miles per tank in my 98 E0. I fill up when the needle hits the E line. Sometimes the gas light comes on and sometimes it doesn't. I should have at least 2 gallons left in the tank according to my calculations when I fill up. I'm not going to chance it and see if I can go another 30 miles.

You've been stalking me just waiting for me to slip! Damn Nazi!!

Posted By: todras_dup1 Re: Your Current Gas Mileage - 08/21/06 07:01 PM
I have 3 new O2's. The only other things I could do are clean the UIM/LIM and get a new fuel filter. The manifolds were supposedly recently cleaned.
Posted By: XKontour98 Re: Your Current Gas Mileage - 08/21/06 07:47 PM
guys are getting way better than I am. With mostly hiway I get about 24mpg. In the city its right around 20

I dunno whats going on. I know that I am running a bit lean, but common!

Posted By: IRingTwyce Re: Your Current Gas Mileage - 08/21/06 07:50 PM
Part of getting the higher mileage is the way I drive. I almost always keep the RPMs low. I'm usually in 5th gear by 30-35 mph. Sometimes I'll shift skipping gears. Often 1-3-5, sometimes 2-4-5. Doing this I discovered the V6 has just enough low-end grunt to SLOWLY get the car moving from a stop in 4th gear.
Posted By: Stevers Re: Your Current Gas Mileage - 08/21/06 07:52 PM
~25mph highway on the mystique
~21 (70% highway) on the GTO
Posted By: gooserex Re: Your Current Gas Mileage - 08/21/06 11:35 PM
Still the usual consistant ~450kms/tank while running on Sunoco 91, usually see 500kms /w 94.
Posted By: CSVT.UA.SHO Re: Your Current Gas Mileage - 08/21/06 11:54 PM
i probably get 23-26 in the city and on a recent trip to NC, i found i get about 32 on the highway. i was VERY impressed!

Translate to "it is descent" ?

Or did you mean "its" ??

I average better than 30 mpg.

Not bad for an SVT.

Usually around 20-21 in town, AC on and recently 30.5 on interstate trip 70-75 mph, AC on. New upstream O2s helped a lot and seafoam every 3rd fill-up.
Posted By: Blue Goose Re: Your Current Gas Mileage - 08/22/06 02:44 PM
BAH! 16 city, 24 highway on a good day, bad day its been much worse. I shift at 2000-2500 rpm in t he city, 70 mph on the interstate. However, this car is running really bad and is uncurable (no CEL! and too much money made me give up on it after I tried everything to make it better) However, it will, at random times, run really good and get well above 30mpg on the highway. but it only does that about once a month or so.

Bingo! This helped me tremendously when I did it last year. Secondly, people have terrible driving habits, i.e. accelerating when there's a red light in view, in front of them. I see this very often, and still don't get it. I guess it goes down to the debate of engine braking. I've been doing it for so long w/o any adverse effects. Many claim they would rather wear their brake components than put to stress on the engine. However, I think idling at a red light for a lengthy time is worse when considering gas consumption and wear on running parts. Thus, I try to time it so that I can reach the signal w/some velocity when the signal turns green.

me too, before the UIM/LIM cleanup, I was doing horrible! Now Im doing gooood

Took the sub box (twin 12") and dynomat out of the trunk and have been getting 26-27 MPG in mixed driving this summer.
Posted By: Harrry Re: Your Current Gas Mileage - 08/22/06 10:14 PM
my last tank was 186 lol.

I never drive it unless i go out for the weekend ends. so it's start drive a few miles then park it.

i tried that don't rev past 2.5-3k but it never works out. I always end up reving to 6k.

Averaging about 26 mpg, as usual. Thank God gas went down a bit, finally I'm not paying over $3 a gallon for premium anymore.
