My tours trunk is missing it's nameplate. The part that supposed to say "Contour GL." So I ordered the badging from B.J. It comes tomarrow. I am unsure wheater it will come with glue. How do these go on? Or do I need to drill holes in order to put it in.

far as i know, it's got 3m tape on the back. peel and stick.

Posted By: zetec herman Re: Trunk Lid Badging - 06/26/06 05:08 AM
$10 for Contour
$12 for GL

weird how 7 letters is 2 dollars cheaper than 2 letters.

lol .. not to take away from the actual topic at hand, but I find it amusing that a few years ago debadging was all the rage and now you guys want to put the badges back on (I assume the previous owners debadged them).
Posted By: contourfreak22 Re: Trunk Lid Badging - 06/26/06 05:08 PM
looks naked with out the badges.

Would have sold my Contour badge for $5 shipped.
Posted By: PacificTourG Re: Trunk Lid Badging - 06/26/06 06:45 PM
I keep the Contour badge on my car because I want people to know what kind of car I have. Many people don't know about these cars. When people look at my car without seeing the badging they usually ask what kind of car it is. It also helps when I take it to a shop.

I think the regular Contour badges are ugly. Too large and cheap looking. The SVT one is more classy.

If I had a regular Contour, I would grab some Bimmian badges and put Contour in place of the Ford OEM badge.

I like badgeless, no stickers, nothing. Just appreciate lines of the car.

I have the Se fender badges if anyone is interested....
Posted By: zetec herman Re: Trunk Lid Badging - 06/26/06 07:46 PM
I put them back on because of people asking what type of car it is. The first time I drove it I was asked if it was a Taurus.

If they have to ask, they wouldn't touch my car.

I like the fact that people have to ask what kind of car I'm driving. It makes it seem more custom than as is. I'm thinking of changing the wheels so nobody knows that it's a Ford. My only problem is the fact that I have de-badged mine 3 years ago and just noticed the other day while waxing that when I have trunk open and look at it, the car still says Contour GL in black faded outline, but when I close the trunk, it all disappears, even in direct sunlight.

It wont go away, but it's not noticable unless you open the trunk.

What are these Bimmian Badges?

Ah come on, be reasonable. It is not possible for a shop to know each and every car maker and model, etc.

The Bimmian badges: badgeyourride.com there was a group buy for them a few weeks ago. They look really good!

yep i agree someone thought my car was a taurus too what makes it bad is that it says contour on the 2 back doors and the trunk...doo dee doo

I get more people thinking it's a Taurus or an Escort than a Contour.

The best is driving by all the ricers in my town while they just stare and have no clue what it is.

I've gotten 4 cylinder Taurus once, and Tracer and Escort a few times here and there. And while driving down the road some passenger (kid probably 16-17) in a escort wagon, saw my contour.org stickers and yelled it's not a Contour. I ignored it and just went on my way if you know what I mean.

I feel your pain, a lot of my friends and random people don't realize that the mystique and the contour are the same freakin thing.

The largest cruise scene around here with hundreds of cars every weekend is called "The Pike" or Berline Turnpike. I pull into a parking lot lined with cars and everyone hanging out and as I pass by I hear everything about my car. Either talking to me directly or talking to someone next to them.

"Whoa, that's hot, what is it?"
"Is that turbo?"
"Wow, I've never actually seen one of these on the road"
"So this a V8 right?"
"Rear wheel drive right?"

Last time someone asked me if my car was turbo, I said "nope, don't need it" and drove away doing a LSD burnout.

I agree. It's like you can almost hear their "brain" saying, "What the h3ll was that?" I love the vacant look on their faces.
Posted By: Augi Re: Trunk Lid Badging - 06/28/06 04:29 AM
What I love is the fact that a lot of people underestimate the Contour. granted, I drive a zetec, but I still shock a few people with it.
