I am just curious about what type of cars people bought for their first "brand new" car. So please, if you would like, state what your first brand-new car was, how much it cost you, and when you bought it.

Steve

PS: If you were wondering... I haven't bought my first brand-new car yet...
March 22nd, 2000 is when I bought my first brand new car...my CSVT and it had 22 miles on it Right now I'm at 52K and still love it
Jan 96, Ford Contour SE, $19,900 (a bit high, I know )
2000 SVT Contour #674
Ordered September 30, 1999
Built December 2, 1999
Picked up December 13, 1999

I paid a little under 22k with tax, title, and license.

The wife has had a few new cars but all Cavaliers. It does make an extremely reliable commuter car. (2.4L ATX)

Our next new car will likely be the new Legacy GT wagon or similiar style wagon. (G35 or maybe a 6) We NEED more space!!!

Personally I may never get another new car. Now an older car however...
My first new car was a 2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege, bought it last November. Just yesterday I traded it off $ for a 2004 White Evolution VIII with 6 miles on the ODO. I'm loving it so far except for the pesky break in period.
First new car: 2000 Ford Contour SVT.. Purchased August 18, 2000 for $19,999. It had 260 miles on it when I took it off the lot.

I also will probably never buy another car BRAND new. That is until I have more money than I know what to do with.

And Roger, you never said what you paid

I miss that car. Lotsa low end grunt.

You think that one was "mature", check this......

1975 British Leyland Triumph Spitfire. I was in the Air Force and this bright yellow ride cost me $5700.00 for a $7200.00 car if bought stateside.

The English backroads were my race track. Officer/pilots used to bring their 'vettes over for their tour and it was immense fun to spank them in road races.

At that time the Spitfire was the highest cornering G-Force car you could buy. I wonder if that's still true.

My old "mature" ass can still remember the British license
plate # MOK362P ,Ah....the memories!
I have never had a brand new car......
12/18/99 `00 Ford Focus sedan. Red/gray with both SE packages and an auto. The car had 52 miles when I test drove it, and 102 when I returned it/drove it home the next day. $17,500 buying it through my (at the time) companies X-plan with Ford. Traded it in 5/22/00 for my Contour. They gave me $15,500 for it at the time. With that, I gave them its keys, all the recalls it needed to be done, a repainted front clip 6K+ on the clock and in dire need of its FIRST oil change. By the time I got rid of it, I hated it. The payments that they set me up on were damn near impossible. Most of the time I had it it sat in the garage, unloved. I drove my old, beatup, smokey, gas-hog, primer black `80 Ramcharger instead.

Drove home in a new to me `96 Contour and havent looked back since.
97 jeep cherokee sport..loaded $16,900 Ive always preferred my older cars..finally bought a new one.. I love my 71 monte ss and 77 monte...68 torino gt....and the list goes on...

bought a brandy new 2004 F350 in May 2004 for roughly $32,000, my first big joint purchase with the ol' husband (50/50 payments on the loan).
No idea when we'll pay that in full just yet.

I have never bought a new car either. I always buy used and save $$$ by letting someone else take the depreciation hit. Plus all the cool new cars are restored Datsun 240z's and 510's etc.
1993 Mazda Protege DX $10,600

Had just turned 18 a few months prior and needed reliable transportation. I kept it until I bought my SVT new in '99 or 6.5yrs. I paid $20,015 for my SVT.

Holy [censored], i bought my Contour SE in August of 99 with 4 miles on it for 15,055!!!!!!!! Of the contour people it sounds like i got the best deal. It was a 5 spd v6 and no one wanted it. I had gone out with my brother to shop and we test drove a zx2 just for sh it's and giggles and thinking on the economical side since I was just out of college. I'm 6'3 and my bro is 6'5 and we're each 230 lbs plus. Needless to say that car wouldn't move out of its own way. then he says, "hey, come check out this contour over here! It's a v6 and a 5 spd" We popped the hood and the engine reminded me of his 94 SHO and I remember how fast that car was. We beat the hell out of it on a test drive and I took it home the next day!!!!! The day after 2k was spent to put a system in that sucka. Factory cassette was not happenin!!!!!
I paid $6600 out the door for a brand-spanking-new 1980 VW Rabbit 4 door with a 5 speed.

First day I had it I replaced the factory radio, first year I had it I replaced the rear wheel bearings. They looked like they were made for a bicycle.
'98 CSVT
7/98
$19,500 with 0.9% financing.

Like others have said, I don't think I will ever buy a new car again.

It was an end of the year clearance demo, got it for $22,390.00 with tax. That was a little over 18 grand off the sticker. Two months later, got hit and totaled it. Wasn't meant to be, I guess.
when i got my license, my dad bought me a brand new 2002 black mazda protege ES 5speed. i loved that car, but a month to the day after i had picked it up from the dealer a was hit by a lifted pickup truck illegally entering a highway (turnpike style). we basically rearended him and went under him. his rear bumper strcuk my windshield. my roof buckled slightly. even the sunroof shattered and my rear bumper came loose. the impact knocked us from the left lane to the embankment on the right side of the highway. we were all fine except the obvious muscle tension and a few cuts from the broken glass. the driver of the truck was unhurt. he recieved a ticket for the accident. it took so long deliberating with the insurance companies that we wnt out and found a decently priced used car that i liked... my contour. i lvoed both these cars (the ES's are fast) but i am just as happy with my contour. now next time i go to buy a new car i have the $30k u got for the car and my injuries. im thinking after college a G35, S40, TSX, or IS300

I know!!! I felt so ripped off

They voided my warranty because I thought the top shoulda been removed... the alignment was terrible on it. Never buying from that hot wheels dealer again...
Please don't laugh.

My first new car was a 1985 Mercury Topaz GS Sport. I paid $8,925. It was white with black trim and was equipped with the super successful Michelin TRX radials (365mm X 185mm if memory serves).

Bought it from the same dealer that I bought the Mystique from. I don't anticipate going back.
