thanks
Trim level. I've got a 2000 SE; one of the very last build numbers to boot. Mine is the most stripped down, decontented car ever!

Anyway, depending on the year; the differeces could include such negligible things as painted side view mirror housings, different color scheme/pattern seats, rocker panels, etc. etc. There's no difference in the engine.
Seeing as the GL V6 wasn't available after 1997, I'm assuming he's talking pre-98 vehicles.

One of the most primary differences between the two was the suspension.

My car appears to have the sport suspension, as it is a stiffer ride than any other vehicle I've ridden in (excepting only my old PGT and my parents' Miata). I imagine that the GL V6 (and LX V6) would have a more comfortable though softer ride mated with the strong engine, which is probably the most ideal combination for long drives.

Otherwise, I don't think there are any differences between the GL and SE V6 packages.

Chattavegas, he wasn't asking about trim levels insomuch as the V6 package availability and its differences between the trim levels.

Scratch that ... I've got to look more closely at the links I post ... the FAQ states LX V6 packages existed for 1998.5, though I've never heard of one ... anybody willing to confirm?

I've got a 1998.0 GL V6 with 5-speed. Made in 09/97, IIRC. Mine has a clock, and a few other things I've noticed that later 1998s don't. Mine was made in KC.

Even though it's a GL it has a sunroof, power windows & doors, & keyless entry. The only feature it didn't have that I wanted was the variable-speed wipers, but that was easily fixed with a $20 plug & play junkyard wiper stalk from a Contour that did.

to answer the question there is no difference in teh engine

the difference comes between the options, the SE would have the sports package that had fog lamps, side skirts and spoiler, leather, different suspension
ive got a 98.0 gl tour as well, i ordered it with no abs, no power windows, automatic trasnmission, cloth seats and door panels, stealies (with hub caps) and those ugly black mirrors. The only thing i wanted was the V6. I did get tired of it so i got some leater seats with matching door panels as well as foglights all for about $230

on a side note, the tour i got all this stuff from was a 96 gl with the mtx/V6 combo, sunroof, leather interior, and power windows/locks.
Ok, the car I yanked the fenders off in a junkyard in texas was a basic 95 GL with a V6/5 speed. Only teal V6 I've ever seen, plus was a very low end car. Only options was power windows/locks. It had 4 wheel discs and a tach, but they might come with the V6.

The SE definatly had a tach, 4 wheel discs, V6, sport suspension, alloys, ground effects, spoiler, power windows/locks all standard.

Pretty much, IMO, the SE looks a LOT better than the GL (if you're talkin pre-98's), plus comes with a lot of stuff standard that was optional or not avail on GL's.
no
The leather would be in covered steering wheel and shift handle, standard.
