Friday night I'm driving on the Ohio TP, minding my own business at about 95mph, when all of a sudden CRACK , I see my windshield with a about foot long crack right in front of me. So Saturday morning I call my agent to find out what my deductible is. They can't tell me $h!t. So I call the company claim line. She says $100 but can't tell me if I make a claim, will my premium go up. I'm hoping it's because I got weekend drones who don't know their butts from a hole in the ground. I'll call back tomorrow, but in the meantime, anybody else have any experience with this? I'm trying to find out if I should just do it myself or make a claim. I know I'll probably find out Tuesday, I'm just curious to know if anyone else has been through this.

If your deductable is $100, I would just pay for the repairs out of pocket. I had my windsheild replaced for $100++ with a lifetime warranty for KY Autoglass. Why even risk having your premium go up if they cannot answer your question.

I can answer your question based on what happened to me, my windshield had a crack in it as well. It was replaced totally free to me didnt cost me a cent, except the very next month my insurance went up $23.

When I first got my Tour I needed the windsheild replaced.

Glass guy:How would you like to pay for it, through insurance or cash.
Me: What's the difference?
Glass guy:$750cdn to go through insurance and we pay your deductable ($300).
Me: How much for cash?
Glass guy:That would be $375cdn....

I figured that paying in cash would be cheaper......

you should post in your regional forums because it's gonna vary state to state. I can tell you from experience that my tour got it's windshield cracked and the repair was about 500 bucks but my insurance coveredit with no deductible and no increase to my insurance. I lived in Mass. at the time. Insurance works differently all over the place

It really depends on your insurance. Most companies won't hit you up unless you really start racking up comprehensive claims but most of the time they don't get you until you get into an actual accident or ticket situation.

Also, there are a lot of companies nationally that will pay the deductible and bill the insurance company directly leaving you $0 out of pocket and without hassle since they'll do it on site.

PS I'll have your strut bar done shortly.

I've had mine replaced. Most of the glass places around here will pay your comprehensive deductible up to $100. And, at least for Progressive and most others I think, glass replacement (nor other comprehensive claims) should count against you at renewal.

If you make a claim, chances are you're ins. will go up...if you have comprehensive, it should cover it. All companies are different...I just had a windshield in the saturn replaced for $170 (w/o ins. help). I can't see you spending more than $250 out of pocket to have it replaced w/o touching your insurance...I had a stone chip repaired in it last year through the ins. & the premium did go up... I could've lived w/ the chip

Try www.89glass.com

but local glass shops should be able to do better...check into that before talking to insurance

I found out that if the damage was over $1000, my premium would go up. Since it's nowhere near that much, I filed the claim and I'll pay the $100 deductible. Now if it would just stop raining, I'd get my new windshield.
