Eh makes more sense. I was a little out of it last night, but I still hold to my opinion. Soon, so many people will have SVT things that the REAL SVTs will have nothing to brag about anymore. And since I'm looking at a real SVT in the very near future, I don't want that to happen.

The moment you pull on to the track...everyone will know who the real SVT is.

Plus you have to think of it as a natural progression. The SVT is the Father of Contours. All others strive to be like it...although they can look like it...they can never be an SVT. It would look really dumb if Contour owners aspired to be civic owners....then you'd have the topic starters car.

Seriously though...to each their own...I think everyone is gonna have a different finished product but I have to say I just don't see the potential in that HUGELY unnecessary wing and that fart cannon. Its just ridiculous...hopefully he'll see the light and be a dumb sheep like the rest of us and follow the herd [Kills the Sarcasm button]

Um how can the SVT be the Contours' father when the pre-98's were on the scene years earlier? If anything, we're all aspiring to be like ZetecNinja.

I work for Ford- anyway, I remember reading in the newsletter about the Contour before we even started manufacturing it. We saw the popularity of the Mondeo, and jumped on it. We began manufacturing it, and I bought mine as one of the first at the dealership. The pre-98 Contours started strong, but sales slowed. Ford only introduced the SVT as a last resort to try and increase popularity for the car. I am so sick of hearing SVT guys bash everyone else.

On another note, when I bought my car new in 1996, I got the SE with every damn option. The pre-98 SE was the best model available at the time. I had my car for three years before you SVT guys could brag, now you guys badmouth us for not having your cars?

Sorry for having 20 grand to spend before you...

Why this SVT no-rice superiority complex and hostility?

There is no definition of a "ricer", only opinions and interpretations of individuals. When someone comes on here and shows a completely bone stock car, everyone has compliments. If that guy puts an aluminum spoiler on his car, he gets put down?

People win shows with aluminum spoilers and "can" exhausts.

Just my input.

i see the problem with aluminum wings as this...it simply doesnt balance the car out. it creates a huge distraction away from the smooth lines of the car. ok, try to picture this. think of a guy 6 feet tall with proportional arms and legs. now, get rid of his legs and give him legs from a guy 5 feet tall. your going to look at him and know something is wrong, that something just doesnt look right. your wing just doesnt look right. the only way to reasonably (i use that word loosely) pull off the wing is with a body kit like the svt kit that gives the body more surface area, that goes down closer to the ground. a body kit makes the cars legs longer, if u will. i dont think they even look right on real race cars but at least they are functional. full racecar brakes are really awesome. i have no intention of running them on my daily streetcar. the only aluminum wings that even look close to ok are the ones i see on any car but they are mounted very low, these are the adjustable ones. taking pure aesthetics into mind, we lower our cars to reduce wheel gap and the 4x4 look to give the car a sleeker, smoother racy look and stance. adding a wing that sits several feet up off the trunk seems (to me at least) to be working in the opposite direction, again for a street car at least.

I love how you people speak of the "smooth lines" of the Contour as if it were a Jaguar. Was this Ford's sex on wheels model at the time?

especially since it wont do you a damned bit of good until 120 MPH sustained...and even then its neglidgible...

those cars are governed at ~113-115 mph...so you will never even be able to use it unless you get a superchip.

OMG!!!! I posted this only a few days ago and I already have 5 pages!!!! LOL!!! You people are funny too. Yes, the car is a work in progress. Those tires are cheap as hell!! 25 bucks a piece because at that point and time I was really really low on cash! No, the wing is not on backwards. Trust me, we tried several different directions with the whole thing. Thats just the way it is. No, my exhaust does not sound like A$$!!! It actually has a very deep tone to it. I am not trying to make my car look like an SVT, nor do I want it to sound like one. Sorry guys, I have a Zetec, why would I want to pose as an SVT? Actually the badges are gone. Unfortunately, because I was stupid and used adhesive remover instead of simply heating them and peeling them off, it ruined my paint. I kick myself in the ass all the time for that. Again, I am not modifying this car for anyone else but me. I know in the past people have always wondered what it looks like. So, I thought I would show them. I think you all have some really funny comments. Glad you shared them all. LOL!! Till the next overly ricey thing (Probably graphics) you all have a great day. Oh and actually I had hubcap spinners on there before anyone else in Deltona/Orange City area did. PROPS TO ME!!!! LOL!!!!!!! Matt

Actually that aluminum wings probably causes lift instead of downforce and would probably rip off of his trunk unless mounted very good. Contours are pretty stable at higher speeds anyways, wings aren't needed.
