I've had my '98 SVT for about 2 months now and after i drove it about 600 miles i had changed the intake to a hi-flow K&N (not a drop in one) and took out the little screen thing behind the factory air filter. Well after about 100 or so miles my check engine light came on. Could this be from taking the screen out? So i disconnected the battery and it hasn't come on again yet. Did it just need to be reset for the dif. air/fuel mixture?

No, I doubt it's related to the screen, but it's possible the air flow changed enought between the old/new filtes to effect the MAF adaptive values. Only time will tell by the CEL status.

I took out my diffuser screen with no ill effects (so far). I've easily put on close to 1000 miles since the install.

alot f times when the gas cap isnt on tight like when u go to the emissions place and afterwords itll come on cuz the gas caps not on so jus take it off and on the turn the key a few times then turn the car on and it shud go off. that maynot be the reason tho
