Well, once again I am sorry about bieng so uninformed. I get on this site 3 or 4 times a week and am still somewhat confused about this mod. Are there any gains to be had from this? By gains I mean smoother running, more power, etc. Any info would be appreciated.
The IAT is the temp sensor for the incoming air charge. The way it reports to the ECU is by varying the resistance of the circuit, adding resistance when coolr, decreasing resistance when warmer. By adding a resistor or POT in line, you're adding to the over all resistance of the circuit, thus telling the ECU it's cooler outside. When it's cooler outside, the ECU advances the timing and adds a bit of fuel to accomodate the more dense air charge... the timing advance is what makes this mod work. In warmer climates, however, the added fuel may lower output of this mod because it's just to much fuel. If you have a MAF calibrator, you can take away the added fuel and still have the bumped timing... heheheheh
