welp, i tried this, i went to radioshack and got 10K Ohm 1/2 watt resistors (.79) and a dual bridge (1.69) i did as it said on the Zx2 site, connected the battery, started, let it sit, then drove it around the block. it seems better, but i wont know until i drive it longer, but i have to wait for the engine to cool off, i bought new spark plug wires and am waiting to put those on. i'll let everyone know how the IAT goes.

omg, the resistor killed it, it lost power, it lost 7 mph, embarassing 60ft speed of 53 mph, and i hit the 1/4 at 73.
dont do it.

Thanks for the update! I was just heating up my soldering iron and scrounging through my resistor bin... I guess I'll just do body work tomorrow

i dont think it was really the fault, i used a 10K resistor, maybe if i had a 10K 1/4 watt or lower it would of been ok, when i installed it i screeched around th eblock and it seemed better. but i dunno, i might try different combos

Cardoc has found that a 5.6K ohm resistor is the best. Tricks the computer into thinking the incoming air is 20 degrees cooler, therefore correcting the lean problem our cars have at high RPM.

What works for the Duratec won't necessarily work for the Zetec. The Zetec guy that originally came up with the mod is using a 10k resistor, so I can't see why it's causing problems, unless he's running 87 octane.

i ran 93 octane, it ran fine when i blazed around the block, when i went riding down the interstate it was sort of sluggish at picking up, and when i raced it i ran once, it was so embarassing. my 1/8 mile was 53mph not 60ft speed , the 1/4 was 73, usually i am at 80 or 81.

I am using a 8k resistor on my Zetec and noticed a big difference compared to stock. I love this mod.

10K is to much for some temps. Remember that with the IAT mod it also tries to add more fuel, so you may be running rich. Try the lower resistor...
With the 10K resistor and the MAF controller, it's quite a bit better because you can back off the fuel that the IAT is telling the ECU it needs all the while keeping the timing advance of the same mod.

I replaced the IAT sensor with a 100K POT (same as a resistor just allows you to control the amount) I did notice better throttle response and the car seems to pull harder.
