dont do it.

Try to use a pot on the ect sensor along with a pot on the iat. Looks like those were more succesful

I think that I will stick with just a POT on the IAT sensor. Putting one on the ECT brings you at risk of overheating the car because, it is spoofed into thinking the car is cooler than it actually is.

This would only hold true if you ran a resistor or a POT 24/7.....

confused Maybe I am missing something, but what is this IAT. I tried the search but it just brought me to this topic. My car runs a little rich already because of the TB and gutted pre-cats. Is there a resistor fix for this also?(i.e. advancing the timing somehow)

if you have 81 mph trapps in the 1/8th...i wouldnt touch a thing...

Well, once again I am sorry about bieng so uninformed. I get on this site 3 or 4 times a week and am still somewhat confused about this mod. Are there any gains to be had from this? By gains I mean smoother running, more power, etc. Any info would be appreciated.

The IAT is the temp sensor for the incoming air charge. The way it reports to the ECU is by varying the resistance of the circuit, adding resistance when coolr, decreasing resistance when warmer. By adding a resistor or POT in line, you're adding to the over all resistance of the circuit, thus telling the ECU it's cooler outside. When it's cooler outside, the ECU advances the timing and adds a bit of fuel to accomodate the more dense air charge... the timing advance is what makes this mod work. In warmer climates, however, the added fuel may lower output of this mod because it's just to much fuel. If you have a MAF calibrator, you can take away the added fuel and still have the bumped timing... heheheheh laugh

I seriously hope that you know about engine electronics Perry, Because EEC-V and EEC-IV do not fair well with over 20 degree variations from actual temperature on either sensor.. And the expected engine performance over 6K will not be as expected.. I tried the pot deal with my ohm meter attached so I could see the amount of resistance applied... And I can tell you that 6K is the limit (Duratech or Zetec) Same controller... No difference except programming.. And ignition systems.. Zetec uses a separate DIS controller where the EEC-V on the Duratecs do not..

Dom cool
