OP renatonetmail CEG\'er R Joined: Jul 2003 Posts: 72	50mph ... red traffic light...wasnt paying attention...hit quick the brakes....automatic transmission downshift to first gear...car dies... Turn switch off and back on and car starts again and i keep on moving... Its been doing this lately but only when suddenly i have brake and as soon as it stops it shuts off. Lupe 3.0 SVT hybrid...all the fixens...Track/Race ready very soon!!!!!! 20,000 + miles

Roz 1999 SVT-C Hard-core CEG'er R Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 3,506 San jose, Ca	You have to remove the tranny to get to the torque converter....Not a DIY task IMO....If you have experience and your confident, they yes you can DIY...it all depends on your ability.... But, because you asked where it is, im guessing you have had no experince with it. From what peple tell me its about 2000$ to get it done professionaly...im not too sure if that includes labor or not. But its definatly not a task to be taken lightly...I reconmend, you go to a shop to get your problem diagnosed first...go to a shop you trust, try not to go to the dealer unless you have to, unless you have had good experinces there. Lupe 3.0 SVT hybrid...all the fixens...Track/Race ready very soon!!!!!! 20,000 + miles

Check out the Transmission forum....some of the guys there may have a fix....that is cheaper than doing it yourself....Also, get it looked at!!!! have it diagnosed...it may be simpler than that. I do know that most problems with them get more expensive the longer you wait.
