What is starting fluid?

Starting fluid is usually ether, if my memory serves me right. It used to be popular for helping carbed motors start up, as you could just spray some in the carb and the motor would usually fire right up. I have never used it on a fuel injected vehicle. I guess you would just spray it into the throttle body, but I am not sure if that is good for fuel injected components.

When I had this same no start issue it was because of my crankshaft position sensor. Since it was replaced the ploblem has not returned It is hard to check these things for intermittant problems. One tip off of the cause of my problem was that if the car was left in gear with the clutch depressed and I pushed the car a couple of inches it would then fire right up.
