Wanted to update this post by adding that the problem has now been fixed. What it turned out to be was that the wireing harness was damaged by an engine hook ( a part that is worse than useless)that was placed on the cylinder bank next to the firewall. The cheap rubber "guard" slipped off at one time and exposed a sharp edge to the harness that presses against it and the damage occurred. It was not enough to completely sever the wire, it only removed the
insulation on one of the camshaft position sensor wires and one other wire. The engine hook was discarded as well. The CEL no longer entertains me and the duratec is strong again!
