If you look at the key 4K-7K RPM powerband, the Bassani averages 6.5HP over stock. The Borla is 3 over stock. However, the Borla has a bit more low end tourque 7.5 lb/ft vs 6 lb/ft 2.5K - 4K RPM. Probably becuase it has a bit more backpressure.
Bassani is louder though, very deep note (nothing ricy about this sound) and it does drone on the highway. I ultimately put in a 4" straight through resonator & the drone was eliminated, its a bit quieter, & it sounds great (to me anyway). But that makes the total cost $600 for both parts. Thats alot for a 7HP gain. But the sound, looks, & first rate stainless construction are worth something too. Still, a Y-pipe is a better bang for buck mod. What about a Bassani with a Y-Pipe install...anyone have it done this way??? Jonah

gnat, I'm going to take a stab here - if you're thinking the Bassani might be too loud, it probably will be. hear it though. decide for yourself. Dan's got a good point about avg hp increase. I really want to hear the bassani, but just haven't had the chance.

I have a Borla exhaust on my Cougar. There is absolutely zero drone inside the car at any rpm, but outside there's a nice smooth deep tone throughout the rev. band.
I don't know why so many people pick Bassani instead of Borla, but to each his own...

IMHO the borla tips leave something to be desired. we'll see on thursday.... -pete

The Y-pipe and Bassani is a little loud. It's a little raspy when it's cold too, but you'll get used to it. (or maybe I'm just tone deaf now ) IMO, the Bassani looks a whole lot better than the Borla.

IMO, the Bassani looks a whole lot better than the Borla.I agree with ya that the Bassani looks the best. Of course...I've only seen pic's...I could easily be swayed by seeing the Borla in person...seriously though, I like the cut of the tips on the Bassani...how it matches the slope of the back fender...very nice and smooth looking. But what I'm most concerned with is the gains...and I think I've had some pretty clear answers on that. Oh yeah...I could probably search for this somewhere...but I'll ask anyways...a Contour SVT would beat a Mitsuibishi Spyder or an Eclipse (assuming all stock)? Am I right or am I right?

IMO, the Bassani looks a whole lot better than the Borla.Oh yeah...I'm not worried about being tone deaf. I'm in the same boat with ya there...one too many rock concerts for these ear drums.
