I've got you beat. for price you can't beat my combo even with a stick. I too set out to get a intake system for my 2000 csvt last month. After much search and -READING- forums . I desided to got with my current set up. The heatshield is a must!!! I can't stress that enough.
I first started with a KKM maf adapter which i scored off ebay for the low price of $10. Next it was time to get a filter from what i've gathered the K&N ru-3530 was the one to use.after a quick call to summit racing i got one for $37.next was time for a heatsheild. i attempted to fab one myself out of plexiglass but it turned out to be more trouble than it was worth.
I almost sold out and bought a weapon-R aluminum heatsheild but didn't. I read somemore and disided to give the rubbermaid/tupperware heatsheild a try.
so i looked around the house and found a rubbermaid breadbox after the measurements i cut to fit -measure twice cut once - .then i was faced with a problem of how to get the heatsheid to seal against the hood. back to the forums and i was off to LOWES hardware store.
once at Lowes i found some pipe insolation the was $2 for 6 feet. what a country.I love america.
so for the low price of $55 plus shipping i now have a bad a$$ intake setup. All intakes are not created equal!
Mine really has a growl and more pull for 4K rpms all the way to redline. If you want some pics feel free to email me
revlimter@aol.com and i'll shoot them your way.
Oh yea i have an aem cold air with the foam air bypass
attachment that cost me $270 on my 91 accord. it doesn't sound half as good as my K&n setup on my 2000 csvt. The only thing the aem intake is good for it lighting up you pocket.
use the money you've save but going the K&n ru-3530 , maf adapter and heatsheild route and buy your self a bat intake pipe.
