MY NEW EMPLOYER!!!

They aren't even sure what job I'm getting yet (two managers are going to have a death match or something to decide): either SMT (Surface Mount Technology) Manufacturing Engineer or Automation Group Engineer. SMT job is responsible for programming and troubleshooting the equipment for new products, and the automation job is responsible for developing new automation for in-plant processes. Both a good mix of the BS Manufacturing Engineering and MS Computer Science.

Here is the kicker: They didn't even let me leave the building after my 3rd round of interviews today before extending the offer. $50,700/year, benefits ASAP (Aug 1), 5 days vacation after 6 months, raise available after 6 months (avg 4-6%), annual performance bonus averaged $4000-$6000 last year (over salary). I start July 12 - what a joy it was to give the 7-11 owner/landlord/gf's dad my 2 weeks notice.

The only downside is that I have to travel over the river into enemy territory each day (New Jersey), and they hold me hostage for $3 to get back over the bridge. Gas is a little cheaper over there at least.

$7.50/hr? I'm earning more than that at Walmart!

Congrats on the new job though -- you sound excited, and for good reason!

Traveling is not a problem, heck you drive an SVT

Nice!

I'm heading to the Pittsburgh area on the 11th for an interview at a small college. Maybe I'll have good luck too!
