I didn't really know what to expect, I beat a low 90s civic hatch, low 90s accord, a cavalier coupe, a neon, and a sunfire right off the top of my head.

Alright, i went back to the track and i tried to take some of u guys advice. I put my chip back in and i tried to take off my rims but couldn't get off the centering ring. I still couldn't run any faster than 18.1, manual shifting or just flooring it. I think i'm done trying to mod this car because it seems if i spend the couple extra hundred dollars to do the few mods that i haven't done I probably wouldn't break out of the 17s.

Quitter...
Seriously, you have a 4 banger what are you expecting??? I've always figured that the fun of modding a contour comes when you're at the track. You take a car that half of the world thinks is a Taurus and the other half thinks is an Escort...mod it up, and you go to the track and totally blow the unsuspecting competition out of the water. Whats better than that? But I guess to each their own. You shouldn't give up on your car though...there's so much you can do for cheap...I say keep going and it will all be worth it.

Unless if its just the track, mt car seems to be slower than the average tour with any type of mods. I've probably spent 7-900 dollars on intake and exhaust and i'm still slow. Unless i can find a turbo or supercharger for cheap, i'll just mod my mustang and just keep working on my contours appearence

there you go! slush boxes suck up too much power and arent really worth effort in my opinion unless your making alot of horsepowre and torque and mods for that particular tranny are plentiful and inexpensive.
what type of stang do have btw?
i had an '84 gt with clutch, gears, shifter, and off road exhast. bought it with a rebuilt bottom end for $1900 with a new stock cam and crank and ran mid 14s with it. real fun little car and HUGE bang for the buck.

I payed $1900 for mines too, I have a 89 LX, 5speed,with a whale tale. I plan on doing the shorty headers, X or H pipe, intake, heads, basically everything. My goal will be 12s.

once again most cavies are not slow... why do you think there all slow?
its to bad most cavies will kill your car...
stock z24's from second gens can run high 15's to mid 16's that will be alot faster then your car any day, the 3rd gens can run mid to high 15's...
for god sakes a stock 98 sunfire 2.2 5 speed was running 16.7 all day long at st thomas for the jco bash, oh and my cav is not a freak
most auto 2.2's at the track in the 2nd gens were all averaging out high 16's all the way to high 17's, which is still sadly faster then your car

you referring to the saleen/saleen knockoff wings. i had one of those too. thats too funny man... hatch back i bet right?
sounds like fun and definitely doable. with a good head, cam and intake combo, and the appropriate complimenting parts, a 12 second street stang is easily built. heck, if you can get well over 300 to the wheels, 11s with drag suspension is even a possability with a fox body!
should i venture to guess that you are an avid MM&FF reader? if not, you should surely pick up a copy and get busy reading. anywho, have fun and good luck with it bro!

Umm, I didn't say they are all slow. Of course a z24 is faster. BUT... the tracks you have been to are fast tracks or something. I've see a lightly modded 94 atx cavy running 12s in the 1/8 mile. And I've raced new stock atx cavys and been even with them. So maybe my car is just not as slow as you think and cavys are just not as fast as you think.
oo and high 17s isn't faster than my car. It's ok dude, cavaliers aren't the fastest cars ever made, it'll be alright.
