The way Big Jim (I did it this way too) is use the liquid kind. Do everything Roadijeff did up to the point of spraying. Put some vice grips on the tubing to meter the intake of the liquid. Only allow enough in to not let the car stall. And yes do one port at a time. And an oil change afterwards too.
Edit: I have a feeling that if you use the spray can you will get less results than using the pure liquid. Reason being the spray can is aerosol already. If you let the intake charge mix with the liquid itself, I think that would be more effective. Hell, I say if you're going to use the spray can, just open up the port and spray away.
