I am planning on using Berryman's B-12 to clean my intake manifold in the near future. I was told I should run half the 16oz can through each of the two vaccuum lines on the top of the manifold. Can someone give me some more detailed instructions on how to accomplish this task (like what end of those vaccum lines I need to disconnect and any other tips)? Thanks

Here's how I did mine:

Disconnect each vacuum line at the manifold end. Push down gently on the black collar with a screwdriver and pull up on the plastic elbow and it'll come right out. Only disconnect them one at a time or you'll get a vacuum leak.

Find some tubing that fits snugly into the hole in the manifold and wedge it in there (no air leaks). Insert the little red tube from the can of Berrymans an inch or so into the other end of the tubing you inserted in the manifold and duct tape it in place (again, no air leaks).

Attach the can of Berrymans to the red tube, start the car and spray away. Try to use about 1/2 the can and don't spray too fast or the engine will stall. Repeat the procedure for the other manifold line.

They say it's a good to do this right before you do an oil change.

The way Big Jim (I did it this way too) is use the liquid kind. Do everything Roadijeff did up to the point of spraying. Put some vice grips on the tubing to meter the intake of the liquid. Only allow enough in to not let the car stall. And yes do one port at a time. And an oil change afterwards too.
Edit: I have a feeling that if you use the spray can you will get less results than using the pure liquid. Reason being the spray can is aerosol already. If you let the intake charge mix with the liquid itself, I think that would be more effective. Hell, I say if you're going to use the spray can, just open up the port and spray away.

I disagree on that...

The way I did it, to get at the TB as well, is to loosen the clamp right behind the MAF. Then insert the litle red tube right there...then spray like mad..making sure you operate the throttle with your hand..taking it past 3500rpm to open up the seconderies and get them clean as well.

When I did this...the UIM became so cold from the spray, it almost hurt to rest my hand on it while I sprayed.

And..as the ingredients on the spray and liquid are exactly the same, and in the same order, and both contain 16oz...I say do the spray and make your life easier.

Oh...make sure you change your oil afterwards...

If you go this easy route, you may need to unplug the MAF to get the engine to run while the proceedure is being performed. Easy & no harm to the MAF.

You'll need to do the vacuum tube in the Upper Intake Manifold method. There was a Berryman treatment how-to with some pictures posted a while back. The vice grips were a good idea for regulating flow - that's how I do my cleanings. I'll get some pictures of my setup for you tonight.

I assumed you have to change the oil right after using B-12 because all that crap drips down into the oil housing...right?
