I think I may have a gauge problem. Yesterday it went into the red and stayed there but the overflow tank never boiled so I got out my Snap-On digital temp meter (it has a probe that you touch to the surface or liquid being measured) and read 161 degrees on the surface of the radiator hose coming from the thermostat housing and 182 degrees immersed in the overflow tank. I ordered a new gauge sending unit so we'll see what that does.
But what baffles me is that last week it did get hot enough to boil the overflow tank ?????
