If you're looking for a nice custom setup from scratch, talk to Stazi. He'll hook you up with some Magnaflow that will sound REALLY sweet. Otherwise a resonated system from trubendz.com will work well for what you describe.
Edit: Now that I think of it, you can do EXACTLY what you're describing, then if it's too loud, you can just add another resonator or muffler at the rear to quiet it down even more.
