If you're rebuilding the engine, don't use worn parts, you're asking for trouble.

Rick, they do exist but are very rare. The Mondeo ST-200 basically equaled a Contour SVT. The engine was just about identical. I think I recall that the 2000 model year for the ST200 lasted a little longer than the Contour SVT did. So if you could find a late 2000 ST200 engine you could get small pitch SVT cams. I guess this info is kinda moot considering the number of Mondeo ST220s in the U.S.

As far as my recommendation on reusing timing components...Definately replace the chains. The tensioners don't really wear but they can become full of gunky oil. Take a good look at the crank sprocket, tensioner arms and guides for wear and cracks in the plastic. If the engine was maintened well, they should show very little wear. If in doubt, replace.

So it's correct to assume that the SVT cam sprockets CANNOT simply be replaced by the 3L cam sprockets?

Can the "used" cam sprockets be changed out with "new" ones of the same type- i.e. worn SVT cam sprockets replaced with new SVT cam sprockets....

Sorry, haven't gotten that far into the motor yet.

Pretty dang good man! The power is incredible. Just need to fix my exhaust leak from my poor job of re-attaching my y-pipe, but other than that, smooth as a wistle. And fast

I also need to get a better flowing UIM. A stock SE UIM and TB on a 3L =

The sprockets and cam lobes are (very tightly) pressed onto the hollow camshaft. It would be next to impossible to remove just the sprocket without damaging the cam. Then you would have to put the replacment sprocket on with very high accuracy (~±1°)
