If you're rebuilding the engine, don't use worn parts, you're asking for trouble.



Rick, they do exist but are very rare. The Mondeo ST-200 basically equaled a Contour SVT. The engine was just about identical. I think I recall that the 2000 model year for the ST200 lasted a little longer than the Contour SVT did. So if you could find a late 2000 ST200 engine you could get small pitch SVT cams. I guess this info is kinda moot considering the number of Mondeo ST220s in the U.S.

As far as my recommendation on reusing timing components...Definately replace the chains. The tensioners don't really wear but they can become full of gunky oil. Take a good look at the crank sprocket, tensioner arms and guides for wear and cracks in the plastic. If the engine was maintened well, they should show very little wear. If in doubt, replace.
