I have a 98.5 SVT and I had the transmission rebuilt in 2002. Here it is 2004 and the darn thing went out AGAIN!! and somewhere between all this in 2003 my engine blew and I had to pay $4300 to get a new engine put in. Have any of you had this many major problems? I don't even race the car or really drive hard that often I'm a 21 year old female and I really just use it to go to work and back. I'm just looking for any insights!
The problem started only when I was turning like a clunking noise I thought it was in relation to the new tires rubbing after finding no evidence of that I thought okay maybe it's the CV joints. Then it got to the point that it was like clunking every time I put it in first and tried to drive. I had a friend that owns a shop lift it and check it out and he swears it's the tranny. When you manually spin the driver side tire while it's lifted there is a noise coming from the driver side housing of the tranny. any ideas of what else it could be?
