After unsuccessful attempts, I finally break down and decide to bring in my beloved Mystique to a mechanic to do a couple things. One of them was to connect my e-brake cables from when I replaced them using the tsb kit. I couldn't get the second cable into the equalizer bar and they told me it would be a lot easier once it was on the lift. Anyways, now he's trying to say that I have the wrong part. Unfortunately, I bought the part so long ago I don't have any record of it, nor do I have the box or anything. I know that its the right one 'cause I got if from Bill Jenkins right after he moved to Las Vegas. It fits in everywhere its supposed to fit except that it is REALLY difficult to get into the equalizer bar. How can I prove its the right part so that they stop making excuses. The only reason I'm taking it to this place is because the owner told me he'd give me a good deal...so I hesitate to just go somewhere else.

Darron,
Do you still have a receipt of any kind in your records. Its always a good idea to keep those records. If not, can you track down the date you bought the part through your CC statements or something? Using that information, you can probably go back to Bill Jenkins and get a copy of the receipt for the part.
I can't think of how else to get the part number.
I replaced the Ebrake cable using the TSB. It took quite alot of effort to get the cable back into the rear calipers. It definately required 2 people, and lots of elbow grease.
I'm not sure what you mean by "Equilizer Bar", but there is a HOWTO for that TSB around here somewhere.

the equalizer bar is the part that the two ends of the cables go into to connect with the ebrake handle eventually. I tried my best to follow the howto without success.

I guess to use the terms that they use in the howto I should be calling it the yoke. I can't get the other cable into the yoke. Apparently, neither can the mechanic and now he's trying to say its the wrong part. I guess you connected the yoke end first and the calipers last, right?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the best way to go. It took quite alot of pulling, and we bent a screwdriver we were using for leverage, but it eventually worked.

having done this on three different cars try these few tips
you want to put the cable on the equilizer bar first
have the cable laying straight back under the car, ie, don't have it in position when you put the cable on the equilizer bar
next run the cable and connect at the caliper last, yes you will need to pull on it but it shouldn't be to bad
