All the sensors part numbers are tied to the most recent number. In other words RG, if you were to take the part number that you have listed as "ours", you would most likely get the number that Hector listed.
There's an article on this somewhere, so let me go find it.

I cant find the receipt for the one i bought to see the part #... I called my local Ford parts dept and asked for 98 Contour Transmission Range Sensor. They had it for $32

Well I can't find that stinking article. well, actually I did. See, it was an article by ATRA and they have blocked all public access to their pages. You have to have a subscription. 
But anyway! I did look up the sensor in several different catalogs and everyone has it listed for 94-up, which means that there is only one version of the sensor avaliable. There "was" three versions, just like there "was" two versions of the solenoid block, but they are all tied into the same number.
As for the range sensor, there has always only been one.

Pull off the passenger side wheel.....grease up the sensor....and wiggle and pull.......

Sensor I changed goes on the tranny... I do have this one you guys are talking about as well...just never put it on
