http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/pdf/manuals/4fj218im.pdfThat's the Vortech install manual. Can anybody tell just by reading it if it would fit? I've heard the JR won't fit cause it sits on the intake manifold side, but this one sits on the exhaust side. Granted it's for the Focus but I think the part that bolts to the engine/tranny is the same, so it's just a question wheather or not the part that bolts to the drive belt side is the same as the Focus. I know it's a SC and I've said they suck, but it's one more option to explore, and the Vortech is way better than the JR even though it's not quiet as good as a turbo, and the Vortech is capable of being air-air or air-water intercooled. Still a Focus has hit 13s with 16psi on the standard Vortech kit with cams, exhaust, aftercooling and race gas, so it's got potential. Discuss.

I doubt they would have the ability to do the ECM like they mention for a Contour or ZX2 or Cougar.... so there is the first problem.

Even if you don't have the answer, you certainly have to admire the problem.

Yes, the ECU mod would have to be aftermarket, but that's the way you'd want it anyway, cause a lot of people have had problems with the Vortech tuning. The SCT programable would be the way to go, but for a base 5-6 psi, you could almost just get away with just a 5th injector. Utimately the main reason this would be nice is it's way easier to get carb exemption since you don't touch the stock cat. Also somepeople still think SCs are better than turbo's. This gives them the option.

Any S/C would require either a hood modification or intake manifold modification, there just simply isn't enough room. Definately easier to modify the hood. Since we are only talking like 2 inches, a scoop would possibly do the trick. I am definately interested in seeing what Hector comes up with.

Huh?
The supercharger doesn't interfere with the hood. The Vortech SC level sits under the top part of the valve cover. Now the throttle body pipe does sit a bit high, at least on the Aftercooler setup. That might interfere with the hood.
