The camera caught the PT Cruiser, driven by Betty J. Hayslip, 75, of New Lebanon running the red light and striking a Suburu driven by Albertina L. Walker, 41, of Dayton, police said. Her SUV flew into the air and crashed into Scott Tegtmeyer, 42, of Dayton.

No mystery it's right there in black and white. Besides, watch the video again you will see all of the traffic in the opposite lane the PT was in STOPPING at the light. Seems prety obvious to me the PT was trying to haul ass through a yellow that turned red before he made it. The other car was probably a bit off the interesection when the light turned which is why it was going to fast when it turned green for him.

Thanks Freaky, I was going to quote that article after what Map said, but you did it for me. Saves me from having to do it. Plus, with all the witnesses there, I am sure the police got an accurate description of what happened.

Even as I think about it now, that doesn't make sense either, considering the way traffic lights operate down here.

In MI lights are very very odd. IF anybody who lives near me can chime in about the light at campbell and 14 mile or the coolige and berkley intersections I would greatly appreciate. You could get a situation where the "PT" had a green light all while the other traffic had a red light. Diff states diff engineers etc etc. Glad to hear that he is alive.

Oh yeah Map, I can totally see what you are saying. It is feesable. I had to rewatch the video several times and still wasn't TOTALLY sure about the Cruiser running the light until I saw the article, it just stuck out in my mind that she did because everyone else was stopped. It would have been nice if the camera could have taped the WHOLE intersection, instead of just that one angle. Ah well. At least the walker survived. I can also see why you would think the Cruiser had the green with the walker going the way he did, but you have to remember that alot of people don't pay one bit of attention to the WALK/DON'T WALK lights.
