I feel sad for the kid walking. That is really tragic. 
Another shining example of why you SHOULD NOT try to beat the yellow light.
The SUV was going too fast to have just jumped off the light. Moreover the kid was crossing the street with the PT cruiser. Now the traffic on the left may have had a red light, but on the right it was green AND THE OTHER car that was sitting was waiting to turn left w/a blinker and the kid was in the way so he was not turning.
Make sense? Look very carfully at the frescort.
