Hi
just purchased a 98 Mystique LS ,V6 ,114000 km.
Runs very well ,only issue I see is a fault light ,left side of the dash ,looks like a canister with a fan in it.I have no manual so what does it mean ?It turns on and off .
Any other recommendations ?
thanks
John

its the coolant light. check the FAQs.

many questions can be answered by looking through there. also, the search feature is very useful. chances are things you are having problems with or doing have been experianced by someone before. hope this helps, and welcome to CEG!

Check your coolant level. Also keep an eye on your temp gauge and replace your water pump soon with a metal impellar one. Pretty easy job on the duratec.

If after you add coolant, the light still doesn't go off, the sensor is probably bad. Mine went on/off for a few months for no reason even when the fluid level was an inch above "full." When I installed the LEDs in my dash, I removed the bulb. This is the first car I've seen with a lamp for the coolant level. I would rather have had a low fuel lamp like my previous car. My Wife used to run out of gas all the time in her Contour and a light would help. She has a Tribute now which has one. She will need to replace that lamp some day soon the way she drives.

So she needs a light to know when to put gas in? I'd rather be advised on low coolant in case of a line busting and over cooking the engine.

You don't have a low fuel light? Is this a pre-98 thing?

Yeah, the lights on the Pre-98 were all different (design), and we don't have a Low Fuel Light.

I didn't know there was a difference before I bought the SVT.

The Pre-98 light is a little harder on the eyes, but you sure know when it goes off
