Indulge me for a moment. One of your points deals with crime and the notion that increased gov't spending won't fix it. Yet every time there's a "get tough on crime" proposal, there's talk of needing money for more prison beds and more cops on the streets. Granted, I'm not referring to eliminating crime 100% and I assume you are not either so we're NOT discussing idealistic unattainable utopias here. Are you saying don't INCREASE that form of governmental spending; or instead saying don't even spend as much as we do now, cut it, as it doesn't work anyway?

Do you mean to imply that increasing spending on law enforcement, prevention, corrections, is wasteful, so forget it? This is rhetorical, but: If a program can and does cut recidivism in half, should it be considered; OR don't even bother to find out what it would cost?
