No that quote is not legit, he convieniantly leaves out the "Thank you" which takes the two distinct phrases and makes them seem like one.
I was just about to stand corrected when I just saw this clip from the movie on TV and the "Thank You" was left in there.

Okay, then he quoted correctly, but I still want to see the context that scene plays in Moore's pile of filth, errr film.
"Moore has also accused the American people of being the stupidest, most naive people on the face of the Earth. And after last weekend, he's got the box office numbers to prove it!"

Wow, I love this quote from the FAQ of michael moore hates america. This question was sent to the guy making the film...
"Q: Hey @$$hole, who the F&!% are you to take on Michael Moore? A: Iâ??m a passionate guy with a camera who has a different perspective. Who the F&!% was Michael Moore to take on GM? I mean, really people, letâ??s be a little more tolerant of othersâ?? opinionsâ?¦ Just because I disagree with Moore doesnâ??t mean my opinion isnâ??t valid, does it? Of course, Iâ??ve noticed that Mooreâ??s fans may be some of the least tolerant people in the world. Iâ??ve actually received death threats from people who claim that itâ??s important to be heard, but demand that I shut upâ?¦ I guess the 1st Amendment only applies when weâ??re at a protest or are demanding redistribution of wealthâ?¦"

My biggest issue with Michael Moore is his use of the word "Documentary" and the implication of the word "Fact". I have not seen the film, and I honestly have no intention of doing so. However, Michael Moore has made a career out of selecting facts and distorting others to promote the propaganda of his design.
...and you know what, in this great free country we live in, he has every right to do that, just as others have every right to say what they think of it. My real issue is calling it a "Documentary" and a piece of "Journalism". It is in fact neither.
On politics... I think the Constitution (the original Articles as amended) do a wonderful job in outlining what government is supposed to do. I advocate cutting government down to the essential tasks, run the most efficient way possible. What that would entail is for another thread for another time, but many of the things reported here as positions of Moore's have not been powers enumerated to the federal government, so they do not have the power to act.
Off topic: Where's the Fab5 when you need them? Michael Moore desperately needs help in dress and grooming, and a few social graces wouldn't hurt him either.

I plan on seeing Mr.Moore's movie in the near future. As with pretty much any kind of media it has to be taken with a grain of salt, if you believe everything you see/read as gospel, you are going to have an interesting life.
As far as his movie being made up of lies as certain media outlets claim *cough* Fox Nazi Channel *cough*, why doesn't someone sue him? If someone is blatenly lying, you can sue them for slander.....
As far as this country being over-taxed (a few people said it), we have some of the lowest taxes out of any industrialized nation!! This is part of the reason we have so few social programs and thus have massive problems with poverty, crime, wealth distribution etc.

Well... the next question comes into play... how many problems are actually caused by a lack of government involvement, and how many would be fixed by government involvement, and how many actually need fixing?
Just because we have the lowest taxes in the industrialized world does not mean they are not too high, merely that the taxes in other countries are even more out of line.
Crime for one I don't believe is caused by a lack of government spending and I don't think more government spending will solve it. Our culture needs to develop responsibility and real consequences to curb crime.
Poverty. While a shame, our capitalist economy provides the opportunities that enable people to lift themselves out of poverty without government paying them all the time. In fact, the system of programs we have creates a disincentive to work and to excel. Our "poor" are rich beyond the imaginings of many people. What is considered "necessity" has been completely blown out of whack.
Wealth distribution. The problem with the pundits concerned about the distribution of wealth is that they believe wealth is limited. Just because one person has more does not mean that others have less. That's the beauty of our system. There is always room at the table of opportunity for more.

Amen brother! You hit it perfect with your statements.
Pete: Your statements reek with socialism. Government is not the provider of the people, rather the other way around. Our government does not make money (well technically they print it...) so the only way it gets money to give back to the people is through taxes. Now why would I want to give my money to the government so they can give it to other people? Our government was not created to make all people even; if you want that, theres a bunch of countries in Eastern Europe that would be glad to take the money you make and redistribute it. I am far from being in a weatlthy economic class, and I still don't want the government to take my money and spend as they see fit.
To quote the words of a Democrat (whom I respect greatly) "My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you: Ask what you can do for your country." -JFK
I don't understand why people think that the government has the most streamlined and well thought out ways of handling your money, and that they will do a better job with it than you can. No, our government is full of wasteful spending in all aspects.
This is not what our government was founded on, brought up to be, or God willing what it will be. Hell, if you take the most absolute literal reading of the intentions of the founding fathers, they wanted federal government for only the protection of the people. Now clearly this isn't possible in todays modern society, but we get further and further from that ideal with every social program designed to redistribute wealth.
You also speak of poverty being a problem in this nation. Well, if I were to take the news of all the new jobs created this year alone, and give the democrats their claim of them being all minimum wage jobs, there is no excuse for their being poverty in this nation. If you are telling me that there are some people that really do look for a job, but can't find one anywhere, I would respectfully call you a liar. Anyone can qualify for a minimum wage job in some field. Even mentally retarded people can get jobs in places created especially for them. The only way that you would be in such poverty that you don't know where your next meal is comming from is that you are not going out and finding a job for yourself.
I'll tell what, you can live in the area of the country I am in on $1000 a month, but it requires you make sacrifices, which so many people are not willing to do. This reminds me of a class I was in a few months back. This woman was giving this sob story of how DHS was going to take her kids, and this and that, because she couldn't afford to buy or keep her child's clothing clean. Now keep in mind, I am in college, so this woman could afford to send herself to college. So she goes on about how she has a low paying job, too many bills, her welfare and food stamps wont cover all her bills, etc etc. Well, I would almost feel bad for her if she werent wearing name brand clothes, nice new shoes, and then as soon as she steps out of the class room her ear becomes glued to a cell phone. This, by the way, is the norm around here, not the exception.
And finally, your uninformed cheap shots at the Fox News Network are completly wacked out, there is nothing Nazi about the Fox News. Because it doesn't get its information and print stories straight from the 'democratic handbook of how to create a socialist America,' like you apparantly do, doesn't make them a bad news channel.

I know a great way to eliminate poverty: make this great "poverty level" number to 1 dollar. I figure most people won't be in poverty then.
My point is that [censored] numbers like that don't speak for anything. Minimum wage > nothing.

May be they don't speak to you because you have life figured out already. Have you been layed lately? If not look into it because you need to relax! One of the reasons people stay on food stamps and welfare is because you can't live on minimum wage. There are people who have used these programs as a bridge during hard times like they're supposed to, but what if these weren't there? How many people would lose their homes? Hey who cares, out of sight out of mind right? Using a broad brush to paint the world black or white maybe easy but it's not reality.
