Hi everybody,
I knauberized my contour yesterday (took the door gaurds off) and things went very well for 3 of the doors. The driver side front door, however, was a different story. It seems they used a different adhesive on that door gaurd. For the life of me, I cannot remove the remaining adhesive from the door. I've used goo be gone, glycerine, soap, heat, wax and more elbow grease than I care to tell . If anybody has had this experience and knows the solution, I'd be glad to hear it. I've also searched for a solution, but found nothing that I haven't already tried, so I figured I'd try my luck asking the rest of you. Thanks in advance for any help.

Edit: I have yet to try automotive "Wipe Away" so that may possibly work. Can't imagine it's much different than goo be gone though. Thanks again for any help.

Is the remaining adhesive hardened? Or is it gooey? If it's gooey, gasoline (a lightly damp rag) will get it off. But be careful and don't take paint off (once you get all the adhesive off all the doors throw a good coat of wax on there)
good luck!

Or, if it's sorta in between. Still sticky, but kinda covered with the foam of the double sided tape, then I remember I literally scraped with my fingernails to get it finally off. That was the only thing I had soft enough not to scratch the paint. I remember my fingers were sore after...

Auto parts stores sell plastic razors....sometimes they work in combination with goo be gone.....a thought.

with this being on ONE door, I am wondering if this is actually residue?
I know some cars had the dreaded racing stripe of overspray underneath... and it LOOKS like a very fine line of adhesive around the perimeter of where the strip used to be.. It is acutally where the car was either painted, or clearcoated with the strips ON the car..
Maybe that is it?

if sticky, try good old vegetable oil. Put some on a papertowel or cloth and rub away..

Thanks to everybody who posted a solution. I used alot of WD40 and barely have a thumbnail left, but I finally removed all of the adhesive. Thanks again for all the help, it was very much appreciated. The car looks great as well.
