I've sprained my ankles probably 5-6 times each. The worst ones hurt more than tearing my ACL! I was wincing in pain reading your story

I wish I could say I don't know what you're talking about. I sprained both ankles about as bad as you can sprain them within 8 weeks of each other. Took all three major ligaments on each ankle. That sucked.

Even after listening to what Pete said, I still wish I would have broken them instead of spraining. It took almost a year for them to heal completely, and on my left ankle one of the ligaments healed over instead of under one of my ankle bones, so now I have an annoying and painful clicking with certain movements. I'd much rather take a few weeks in a cast and on crutches (one at a time, of course) than over a year of pain and even some permanent damage.

But luckily those have been my most severe injuries (knock on wood).

The Dr. just called me. Turns out I broke my foot. He was only looking at my ankle on the x-ray's, which is still severely sprained, but I did manage to break a bone in my foot on top of that. He said because it's the foot theres no need for a cast, but the down time will be longer now. Makes me a little happier I guess. Maybe the sprain isn't as serious and it won't have too many permanent effects later in life.
