so after reading on this forum how a Speed would beat a SVT tour I made it a point tha if I came across one at the track. That'd I'd get lined up with it.
about 5 months ago I test drove a Speed. In all honesty it had a ok first gear and second was as expected.
3rd felt like my Honda Accord(87 LX-i BAH)
you could feel that baby penis T25 dying.
so at the track on Saturday there was a yellow speed. This was a headsup race day. So no times were issued, just the tree and the win light. 1/8th mile aswell
First run.
Rev it up to 3k and we're off. Of course me being stupid forgets to give it half throttle out of the blocks so the little midget car gets a link on me by the end of first. His gearing is shorter so he shifts and I gain a few inches and start a slow pull.
for most of 2nd gear i'm creeping up. Hit third and as I expected, the creep turned to a walking pace.
pass the finish line running him down, but not enough

[censored] got me by a license plate holder.
second run
this time I tried the cross over point launch. Rev to 3700-3800. Green, tires start screeching and I use the clutch to bleed off the rpm's but still keeping the momentum up(yeah yeah the clutch won't last I know). It launched almost perfectly and I went from last race being behind by a car, to be ahead by 3/4 of a car. Not bad I thought for a fat ass contour with no LSD vs a anorexic(sp?) protege with a nice LSD.
shift into 2nd and give it the holy beans. I look back and the little nazi is still at my back tire. Knowing he won't catch me if I hit 3rd good I keep my eyes on my tach(which is slow by 300rpm). Hit third and start walking. Not sure the exact distance I had on him. But it was growing nicely. Could see the very edge
of his wing by the finish line.
so there you are, a speed vs a stock csvt.
