Planning a trip to New York for a weekend with a friend and a hotel is taken care of, I just have to provide my own airfare. I've been checking around the Expedia/Priceline sites and was just wondering if anyone in here knows of something else. Even if anyone works for an airline, hehe..... . Floor is open to suggestions, thanks. BTW, I'd fly out of either Ft. Walton Bch, or Pensacola.

Southwest is your best bet, if they service an airport somewhere near you. I have to go to Omaha to fly Southwest, but I usually end up saving 40-50%.

Southwest is my first choice, period, even though I have to go to an airport an hour away instead of the one 15 minutes away. But there are a number of budget airlines servicing the East Coast now.

Yes Valujet is still around, they are called Airtran now. I have flown them many times, as they are cheap. All their flights go into Atlanta, so you would fly into Atlanta and then to NY (or drive there since I think you live in FL)
Southwest doesnt have flights into NY. Your cheapest bet would usually be Airtran, theres nothing wrong with them. But sometimes a big carrier like AA will be cheaper, you just need to go to every airline site you can think of and just look up the fares. And also try sites like priceline, orbitz, etc. They can sometimes give you good deals, but I have noticed that sometimes they are more expensive than going to the Airline yourself. I fly all the time, and most of my flights are actually free. Get a credit card that gives you good frequent flyer miles, and low cash in rates and put everything on credit that you would normally pay cash for. -Nick

www.sidestep.comgreat search engine for airfare. Keep in mind that you are going to pay more because you are flying into a smaller airport, if you were flying from say NYC to Miami you could get a real cheap fare probably.
