What temp should I run with the full 3.0L (return fuel rail)? I run upwards of 220F. I know that I am running hot, but how hot? Keep in mind that I am in PHX and it is like 115F outside with the A/C running. I have the fans coming on a bit more aggressively that stock and am also running a cooler thermostat... Should I be concerned? When does she melt down?

Should run the same temps as your 2.5L. Mine always did with my 3L in AZ so I don't know why yours wouldn't.

I'm usually right around 195ish, then if I idle for extended periods of time it gets upwards of 210-215.

I have an Autometer gauge in and i am not sure how accurate it is. I no longer have the stock one connected. I guess I will hook up the OBDII and see what it is really reading... What are the normal operating temps on the 2.5L and the 3.0L?

I run an Autometer as well, electric, and my 2.5 ran the same temps as my 3.0L does...

Uhhmmm..that can't be good...

(DemonSVT)

"Depending on ECT the PCM can pull up to 80% timing.

ECT timing pull is -10 at 200, -20 at 220, -40 at 230, -60 at 254, & -80 (i.e. default for bad sensor or maxed reading)
Interpolate between the numbers
Fans kick on at 216 & 224 or -18% timing & - 22% timing respectively.
Stock curve has about 32 degrees of advance.
SVT curve almost 40 degrees.

That's just the straight timing pull. There are many multipliers based on temp via load & rpm as well.

That's probably 10 to maybe 20 HP & TQ lost. Hard to quantify since I've never dyno'd the power loss from losing the majority of your spark advance."
