Civics are a highly stolen vechile due to its high need in parts. Fenders, engine, tires, transaxle, all worth money for the parts the ricers ruined on their Civics...

My friend who once owned an Acura was worried about theft, and so he made a switch behind the brake peddle (barily noticable) that controlled the wire to the starter solenoid (other terms, no matter what, the car wouldnt start until you flipped the switch...

lol got one of those in my contour, had one in my 95, but it was in the open. then my 99 didn't have one and once I saw someone get into my car in under 30 seconds, I decieded it was time to do something. So I installed a switch in my car.. its a secret where it is.

I have a switch for my fuel pump (I ain't gonna tell u where it is ), it's easy to do because our inertia switches are in the driver footwell, tap teh line, add switch, hide it.

I was under the impression that contours with the smart chip keys can not be stolen. Since you need the smart chip to start the car.

They can't, unless someone gets your keys....

I'm mostly just paranoid, but it succeds in giving me comfort...

What about car alarms with ignition disable? Does that do anything for theft?

Yeah, I used to have a switch that was wired into the inertia switch for the fuel pump on my old 5.0 Mustang, but for my Contour I took a slightly different approach:

I think it will do the trick. Someday I might also put in a switch again when I get time?

i have the switch as well. hidden. i dont use it unless im going to out of the sight of the car for 15 mins or more. another neat thing about our cars is if you want to keep someone out of the trunk, all you have to do is flip the little orange tab my the latch just inside the trunk. thios disables the interior release, so the trunk can only be opened with a key. this means that nobody can setal your stereo system, excep tfor the HU. but if you take your faceplate off, 95% of thieves wont even bother with it.

i myself have a viper security system which supposedly cuts power to the ignition system. i have no idea how it works, i just know it does. this is what i was told by Safe and Sound Auto Security (the guys who installed it) i have to take the preventative measwures as i dont have the chipped key.
