Heh! Then I'm lucky to have you as an audience! Otherwise I might have looked like a fool Oh wait, I already look like that..

Just went out to get something to eat.. heater fan doesn't work anymore.. I'll get a voltmeter and try to measure of the motor is getting something or not.. Back in 10..

Okay.. so I've unplugged the 2-wire connector at the motor, and I've got 12 volts whatever the position of the fan-speed switch. I couldn't get to the resistor pack connector, it was getting too dark in the parking lot...

Wasn't I supposed to get a variable voltage reading at the motor connector?? It's what I expected, but didn't get...

No motor, no current flow, no voltage drop - essentially you have proved 12 volts at feed side of motor and there is continuity to ground at the other side (directly in high, via resistors for other speeds). Motor might be the problem.

Figures... I didn't remember that the resistor pack was between the motor and ground.. I left for work without the schematics I got from the Mitchell On-Demand CDs two days ago, I should've brought them with me.

I'll be on holidays in a few hours.. hopefully that'll give me time to check further on this.

I'm wondering what would happen if I applied 12v directly to the motor? If it does work that way (like in the thread you mentioned earlier) then it's probably something else than the motor...

Junk yards are asking 72$ (CDN) for the motor (searched on www.car-part.com, I hope I can find it cheaper.

Again, thanks for your help!

I am having the same problem as you are. 12 volts at the motor all the time. I replaced the control switch and resitor pack. Still no good. I put 12 volt dc to the motor and it runs fine.

I just can't figure it out.

Please let me know if you figure it out, as I will do the same for you.

Finally got rid of the blower fan problem!

I went to my parents to pick up my kids, and when I got there, my dad reminded me about a similar problem he had with his '95 Lumina APV. For a few weeks, he had to lightly tap his blower motor with a small hammer to get it started, the motor had developed something like a "dead spot" and could not start by itself.

So we tried that with mine, and you guessed it, it worked. So I removed the motor from the heater assembly (easy thing) and bought one from a local junk yard (a nice green '96 Mystique that seemed to have had an encounter with a train or something as ferocious).

Now everything works nicely, and the fan is much quieter than it was before... So I suppose the motor had been giving me tell-tale signs of it's oncoming death...

Horseydug - as usual, your troubleshooting skills have been immensely helpful! Thanks a million times (again).
