Since my other post wasnot titled well...

My car is a 1998 Merc. v6, atx

1) Cannot get out of park - had to rig the switch mechanism to stay out of the way under the shifter.

2) No cruise control (horn works, fuses are good)

Can any of these be related to my third brake light not working(the other 2 brake lights still work)? Also, I have worked on the intake, but did not touch the throttle body or its connection to the cruise cable.

I have searched the forums, i thought intensively, but I might have missed some info.

Id greatly appreciate any help you can offer

Thanks!

The electrical switch at the brake pedal could control a lot of those functions, but I don't know why the regular brake lights would work, and the third brake light would not. Could also be a fuse problem.

That would've been quite helpful to say in your first post. You originally made it sound like you thought the first two issues were causing the brake light not to work. Not working and not using are two different things. To answer your question: no, unplugging the 3rd brake light shouldn't affect anything.

sorry for not being clear, and

my final answer is:

The third brake light is not working which is extremely likely my fault. Therefore I unplugged it.

There are either 2 reasons I can think of why it is not working.

I tried taking out one of the bulbs (never succeeded) and could have damaged it then. Also when I thought I was pulling the plug/harness part, i was actually pulling the entire soldered wiring from the board that holds the bulbs. I can still insert the wiring into the soldered holes in the boards, and it still stays in place.
