Thanks!

I am extremely pleased. I did it yesterday. It took approximately 3 hrs. That includes: removing the TB, grinding, sanding, polishing, cutting, and replacing everything. The time depends on how extreme you want to get with this mod. Better throttle response, more power, and a more pronounced sucking sound during acceleration. Good luck.

Thanks, justSVT. I'm really lookin' into this mod. Did you ponder grinding the inside of the TB? Did that look possible? I'd like to go to the mustang 65mm, but I'm not willing to loose cruise control.

Do Not touch the sides of the throttle body anywhere near where the plate touches it.
Otherwise the plate will not seal.
Also do not touch the edges of the throttle plate itself either...
Idle problems galore will be yours if you do!
On the Cruise Control loss -
Anyone with a 65mm unit... Has anyone measured the length of the throttle shaft in the 65mm unit. Could the 60mm shaft be used? Could it be modified to work?

You just clock the shaft 180° and everything connects right up. If you read my posts on the 65mm GT Mustang TB installation it's all there.

Thanks Aussie. I guess last I read your post you hadn't figured out a way to hook up cruise yet. Maybe I was skimming too fast... . Demon, I guess what I meant by grinding the inside of the TB was smoothing out rough spots. I realize a poor seal will create poor idle. I'll re-read your post Aussie and see if I can find a cheap 65mm and the time to do this!

Ok, realizing that the 65mm TB has a 70mm OD, and remembering that I have a mere K&N, I think I'm going to undertake a stock TB optimization. My boss said he'd lend me his Dremel and a countersink. Any pointers? Wish me luck!

Use a metal removal bit, not a grinding stone if you can help it. If you must use a stone, use grinder's grease to keep the bit from clogging with the soft aluminum. After the grinding, use sand paper rolls and a polishing bit to complete the package. Take apart the TB and bring the throttle plate bar along with you to ensure you get the right thread on the screws. To ease removal of the throttle plate screws, secure the TB on a bench with some drywall screws (make sure to hang the linkage over the edge) and get a cordless drill with the correct screw driver bit. This way you can get enough pressure on them to come right out without stripping... That should be about it. I just did three more on Sunday (have a little bit more polising to do before they're complete) and these are the only issues I can think of at the moment. Takes about an hour of work on the TB itself, plus removal and installation time from/to the car. Be sure to remove the TPS and set aside... waaaaaay aside as you don't want any metal in there at all. TPS's are about $30-$40 to replace... Oh, and good luck!
