I purchased a set of SVT Springs and ended up getting a set of KYB Struts (sorry Chris ) The struts that I purchased were the wrong ones and I didn't find that out until today....after the shop tried to install them. The shop said that the struts in the front went on fine but the rear wouldn't. So he put a different kind in the rear. Now the struts that are on the front are KYB and the model number is for pre98. Is there a difference in size? The rear is the same height as before the install but the front is higher. Like around an inch to 1.5". Is this right? The struts and spring had 142,000kms. and the "new" SVT springs that I got only had about 34,000m. would the old ones have settled that much? I know this is kind of confusing. So any other questions just ask. My car looks very odd with the front being so high. And Part Source's mistake cost me an extra $350 on my shop bill. Thats another story cause they didn't call and ask if I wanted a different kind on, they just went ahead with it. Any insight would be good.

spax, koni, bilstein, sachs all use the same strut for 95-2000 {REAR}!But kyb use a different strut Check out spmotorsports and you,ll see. I,d use monroe struts{4}before a mix match set.You may have problems down the road.

See thats the problem, they already put them on without my permission and I had to pay the struts and installation.

I think I will make them buy it back(at full price) and get them to put the right KYB's on, when I get them. I can really tell the difference between the front and back. The KYB is MUCH stiffer in the front.

I decide against puting the ones one that I got from you. No offence, but I think they were almost done. They didn't have much resistance at all. I just felt safer puting new ones on.
The new KYB struts I got from the parts place at these part numbers; Front:235612, Rear: 235613. Now according to CTA's web site it should have been 235620 & 235621 for post-98s.
Now to the question: Is there a differnce between them? Obiviously the rears don't fit, thats a given. But is the spring seating on the fronts higher on the pre98 ones?? Its seems that way to me because the front is much higher than the rear now that before. Chris(CTA) can you help me out on this one?
I really need help on this. Cause if they are all wrong, the parts store is definitly going to hear it from me.

Anyone? I just need to know the difference between the front from pre and post 98. Are the spring "seats" in a different spot? Is that why the front looks higher now?
Thanks!!

Both the spring seats and the springs are different on the front. The change came with the 98 model year. The springs and struts should not be mixed. If you use 98 and newer front springs, you will also need to use 98 and newer front struts as well as the matching upper spring "hat".
If you mixed parts, that could very well explain why the front end is higher than you expected.

Take a look at the BAT catalog under suspension tech. Says that pre 98 front struts can be used with post 98 springs, but not vise versa. Also, they do not know of any difference in the rear springs or struts between the years. Of course this is stock, and not KYB units.
